Former North Carolina governor Pat McCrory, who is seeking the Republican nomination in a U.S. Senate race, has launched a campaign ad accusing one of his primary rivals, Rep. Ted Budd (R-N.C.), of being too complimentary of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“As Ukrainians bled and died,” McCrory says in the video, “Congressman Budd excused their killer.”
The ad then quotes Budd praising Putin as a “very intelligent actor” who had “strategic reasons” for invading Ukraine, including a desire to “protect his southern flank.”
Budd said in a February interview with CBS17 TV in Raleigh that he thinks Putin is “evil” but that it “doesn’t mean he’s not smart.”
“I would say he’s been quite erratic in this approach to the Ukraine,” Budd said. “So, this is very different than the Putin we’ve seen over the past several decades.”
Budd also said the United States must continue supporting Ukraine and called Putin an “international thug.”
“But he is intelligent,” Budd said, “so we have to treat him as such.”
In a statement to The Washington Post, Budd campaign adviser Jonathan Felts dismissed McCrory’s ad, arguing that Budd “accurately described Putin as an evil, intelligent threat to be taken seriously.”

Putin just views Ukraine as "rightfully" belonging to Russia, regardless of the wishes of its people, and wants it back.

McCrory just eliminated himself. The most dangerous thing you can do is underestimate your opponent. You have to think strategically and get inside his head. Calmly him names accomplishes nothing.

Thanks to McCrory choosing to widen I77 north of Charlotte by signing a contract with a Spanish firm to run it as a toll road, we’ve had a Democrat Governor in NC since 2016. It is noteworthy in 2016 the GOP held onto its majority in the state legislature and in the Congressional delegation, Trump carried the state in the presidential election, we elected a truly conservative black Republican as Lt. Governor, while McCrory lost his reelection bid as governor. Pathetic. If he goes to the Senate he will be as bad as the Senator he will replace — Burr who voted to convict Trump in the Senate trial.

Unfortunately, there are 14 people running on the primary ballot. It’s way too crowded and I fear McCrory will slide right on through.

Hordes cost money. Hordes have to get paid, have to eat, have to have weapons, and minders. Tend to wander off the rez on occasion.
Bugs are so much more efficient. Don’t kill And tell. Don’t mutiny. Demand a raise. And if they take out some of your own population, no biggie.
If our Deep State was cooking up something nasty in Ukraine, I don’t think Pootie went in solo because of that. But if his actions get the whistle blown on something that never should have been going on in the first place...
