Most of my life, I assumed that we elected serious politicians and appointed competent people to deal with the country’s complex problems -- the Cold War, the Vietnam War, the Civil Rights Movement, the economy, immigration, terrorism, foreign policy, natural disasters, etc. -- major problems that required competent people, serious about addressing (and fixing) the issues.
That was then, this is now. America is no longer a serious country, and the West is not a serious culture. Proof of how far we’ve fallen -- boys claim they’re girls, girls claim they’re boys and we must accept the new biology or be cancelled; racism is openly taught in public schools under the lie called Critical Race Theory (thank you, teachers unions); schoolchildren are taught to hate the country’s very founding claiming more racism; the military is focused on white rage (not defeating our enemies); and we installed an imbecile (as president) who mumbles the words his handlers put on the teleprompter. Vice President (VP) Kamala Harris is further proof that, as a nation, we’re unserious.

In Kamala’s case the principle is the more peters you please, the higher you rise.
The question is ‘Whose peter?’
Oh, she reached for the peter a LONG time ago and maybe a principal or two as well. Inept would be a step up. And how is she getting to her destination? “Well, you see there’s this thing called an airplane and it has wings and engines on it. When it gets enough speed up it can rise into the air.......” What have these assclowns wrought?

Have a vivid memory of sitting outside my grandmothers house thinking just that when i was around 14.

I was telling my kids the other day that when I was a kid I thought our leaders were “giants.” Not physically—but they had a commanding presence.
Even the opposing side had formidable people. People who would not cave to the enemy so easily. They were shocked when I explained that while George McGovern was about as left as you could get back then, he flew a bomber in some of the worst days of WWII. So the guy had guts and understood the ravages of war.
The schools of the day made the President some sort of super hero. It wasn’t until I was in high school and Dick Nixon screwed up that anyone would talk crap about the President in a classroom. I remember when Ike died the teachers in my elementary school wept only.
Today, EVERYTHING is so driven by political sides. Everything has to have a label.
As Gutfield states often on his programs we have fallen into the fallacy of two arguments. One is not able to look at events or people objectively; you are not allowed to understand Putin’s motivations without being called a Putin Lover. Or worse.
You have to toe the line for your “tribe” or your own people will turn on you.
This is true all over Social Media. Its on bright display here are FR. The meter does not measure from 1 to 100. You are either at 100, or your opinion doesn’t matter. You are effectively bullied out of the conversation.
Harris is a fool. She is in the job because she is a Halfrican who sits down to pee. AOC is in her job because she appeals to the Tic Toc girls and the porn hub boys.
There are plenty of conservatives whose first comments about Sarah, Tulsi, and Kristi are regarding their appearance rather than their political “content.” (Not everyone...but take note the next time there is a thread about them.)
Our nation stopped being serious sometime around 1988. In history books I imagine this 30-40 year period will be covered in about 3 paragraphs. It will note “minor wars”, multiple impeachments, and the steps that caused us to lose dominance economically and militarily.
The chapters after this will be interesting.
In my career I had several positions that required lobbying representatives at the state and Federal level.
I always thought one needed to be the smartest person in the room to lead the nation. I thought it was necessary to lead companies. I figured it was the same to cure people.
Then, I found myself dealing with these people. I learned that “smartest in the room” was a pretty narrow definition. The question is, “Smartest about what.”
Depending on the topic at hand, I sometimes realize I was the smartest guy in the room. And that was a scary, scary thought.
But politicians tended to surround themselves with smart people. But they were the same dopes you knew in high school student government. They simply use dollars now instead of hall passes.
What did she succeed at to get promoted?
“A radio show asked her to explain the Ukraine situation to its audience. Harris said, “Ukraine is a country in Europe. It exists next to another country called Russia. Russia is a bigger country. Russia is a powerful country. Russia decided to invade a smaller country called Ukraine. So, basically that’s wrong.””
FINALLY i get a straight answer.

The people who run these people are serious and smart.
They don’t care who the compliant puppets are.
I suspect it will go something like this.”The people of Poland are very generous. They were once attacked by Nazis. Then Russia saved them from the Nazis. Poland even had a pope who came from there. We should all pray for peace.”

Kamala is a perfect example of someone who isn’t nearly as smart as she thinks she is.
Educated far beyond her innate intelligence should have otherwise allowed, she combines the worst aspects of hubris and ignorance. Her attempts to use word salad to try to appear competent actually showcase her ineptitude instead.
“Leaders” like this never lead anywhere nice.
