FAKE NEWS. This is a mere pretext for an invasion. NATO already borders Russia and has not placed nukes or systems capable of defending themselves from a Russian invasion there.
In no universe was Ukraine--which was not even taking active measures to join NATO over the past few weeks--an "imminent" threat to Russia, nor would it become a threat even if it joined NATO in 4 or 5 or even 10 years when/if they qualified.
What % of Crimeans consider themselves Russian? What % of the Donbas region want to join Russia?
You don't know the answer to these questions either. The referendum in Crimea was beset by obvious and stupid levels of voter fraud, with 125% voter turnout in Sevestpol, empty polling locations, Russian soldiers and journalists being given ballots to vote, and the open abduction of a protestor who was later found tortured and with a knife stabbed through his eye.
In Donbas, locals consistently tell journalists "don't talk to us" because just talking to a journalist, outside the supervision of the authorities, can and will result in you being abducted, tortured and possibly killed.
Mind you, Russia since taking Crimea has imported somewhere between 250,000 Russian colonists on the low end to 1,000,000 on the high end, with Russia essentially going full commie and pumping huge amounts of money into the region (but apparently are still unable to run basic services due to typical Russian corruption), nationalizing businesses on a whim and pumping as much money as possible to make the region attractive.
Maybe NOW, with all the colonists, there might be a chance Crimea would legit vote to remain with Russia. But then again, considering the sheer amount of Russian depravity, I'm not so sure.
Western Ukrain is not going to be under Russian Rule. They will be a neutral, independent, Ukraine. The eastern half, at least half of the population considers themselves to be Russian already.
I like how folks like you, who rant the most about 'Nazis" in Ukraine, demand complete inaction and that we "mind our own business," casually divide a country in half.

For the Ukrainians it’s already ugly. Time for the Russians to feel some of the pain they’re causing.
If they surrender and sign a peace agreement which they already should have Putin will go home. He’s not looking to enslave Ukrania. He wants the NWO out of there and no NATO membership.
