There was a science fiction book by a famous author about everyone suddenly becoming more intelligent. It turned out there was a space cloud with intelligence dampener properties the earth had been passing through. I just can’t remember the name or author because I was born before 1996!

Lead in Gasoline lowers IQs. Lead concentrations in the air are worse in cities than in the suburbs or rural areas.
Cities have been voting straight ticket Democrat for about 50 years.
Correlation does not prove causation, but...

The gasoline for piston aircraft engines still contains lead. Keeps the valves cooler and maybe has higher octane rating.
Someone out there probably knows more about this.

They need to expand the study to test the low IQ people in the inner cities of all races more than from the leaded gasoline. I suspect lead pipes carrying water are blunting more IQ’s than exposure to gasoline.

For people born in the 1960s and the 1970s, when leaded gas consumption was skyrocketing, the IQ loss was estimated to be up to 6 points and for some, more than 7 points. Coincides with the teacher union stranglehold on public education and the increased focus on social issues with less focus on the basics. For 30 years the GOP did nothing to stop this and continue today to allow it.
