Shortly after the Russian invasion began, unconfirmed rumors spread widely across the internet of a mysterious Ukrainian fighter pilot in a MiG-29 gunning down six enemy aircraft within the first hours of the war.
The unknown military hero, dubbed "The Ghost of Kyiv" on social media, had been taking to the skies since the invasion started and allegedly reached 21 confirmed Russian aircraft kills as of Wednesday, making the pilot the first supposed flying ace of the 21st century.
"The Ghost of Kyiv," however, is almost certainly a myth, albeit an incredibly useful one as Ukraine tries to rally its citizens to resist Russian conquest.

I thought this Ghost had 5 kills videos courtesy of some video game of several years ago. Is this the same storyline ? He should have 50 kills by now.

Exactly. Most people understand implicitly that myth is equally important as reality. In fact it is never really a case of “reality vs myth,” it is rather a case of myth and reality. Those who would destroy myth are the same people as those who would destroy meaning. And they are to be opposed with every fiber of being.
Lots of propaganda circulating. Heros, war crimes, and sob stories. Maybe some real, but its purpose is to drive us to war. I’m tuning it all out because at the end of the day, I don’t want to see the US at war over Ukraine, not worth a penny of our money, not worth one American life.
Civilization as we know it is built as largely on myth as on anything else.
I worry, though, about some peoples’ myths...
I don’t watch the kiddy and women show the demorats and media loves to show the world......that’s abuse. And they always bring out kids to pluck peoples heart strings so they won’t look at what brings nations to this place of warring with one another.
Some people here sniffed that fraud out the very first day.

“Some”? There are people here that were naïve and gullible enough to have ever believed this? It was clear-cut war propaganda from day one.
Putin is a thug but we need to continue buying oil from him. Joe Biden needs to stay the course. Problem is that Congress may vote on legislation to ban Russian oil.
