The Kremlin has announced its demands for ending the war in Ukraine:
-Ukraine must change its constitution to guarantee it won't join any "blocs", i.e. NATO + EU.
-Must recognise Crimea as part of Russia.
-Must recognise the eastern separatist regions as independent.— Patrick Reevell (@Reevellp) March 7, 2022

Okay fine
Has Shannon tWatts weighed in yet?
Not sure how you're defining "large", but less than 20% of the population is of Russia ethnicity, and I suspect a good chunk even of those aren't thrilled with being ruled by Putin. Based on past elections, it looks like somewhere between 10-15 of the country prefers closer relations with Europe than with Russia.
If a 5th of the U.S population wanted to be part of Mexico one day, I would say that is large
“Sounds like a great deal to end a war.”
After conquering France Hitler offered to make peace with Great Britain. Some people at the time thought it was a great deal to end the war.
Uncle Sam invades Mexico to stop a Chinese/Mexican alliance. When dust settles U.S gives it’s criteria for a withdrawal. Mexico makes counter proposal that Chinese must be allowed to have an airbase in Mexico. As if.
Yup!
Amen to that, Jim!!

“I can’t imagine that Putin ever wanted all of Ukraine.”
On the eve of the attack against Ukraine the Russian troll farm talking point of the day was to amplify Putin’s assertion that Ukraine ‘wasn’t even really a nation’. This was supposed to justify Putin’s claim to the entirety of Ukraine.
Further, Putin’s trolls have long insisted that one of their war aims is to ‘de-Nazify’ Ukraine and in particular that means the Russians want to occupy western Ukraine and ethnically cleanse it of people who are not of Russian ethnicity.
At the end of this the simple fact is now firmly established that Putin is an inveterate liar who lies time and time again. If he pursues peace now it is likely because he cannot achieve his war aims right now.
So he pretends to offer peace when his proven practice is to regroup and prepare for the next act of war.
The Ukrainians are starting to turn a corner in this war and they’re killing Russians on the land, in the air, and at sea. And the Russians are pooching this invasion something awful.
Give it a few more weeks and it will be the Russians walking back to Russia in defeat because they will lack the hardware, men, and will to hold on to what they’ve stolen.
The sad thing to me is how much needless death on both sides will take place in Ukraine before someone in Moscow finally comes to their senses and kills their insane dictator.
Solid move on your part my FRiend!!!
Biden & Putin share inveterate lying in common
IMHO, in the end Russia will get what it wanted initially.Putin made his point at the end of a gun. Ukraine and NATO will agree Ukraine will not seek admission to NATO as well as the EU. Russia will annex the Russian majority territories it currently occupies in East Ukraine or they will be accepted as breakaway republics. Ukraine will recognize Crimea as a Russian territory and agree to maintain neutrality. It will be agreed no Western troops or armaments will be placed in surviving Ukraine. And, of course, Russia is going to ask that sanctions against it be lifted. Is it fair? No. Is it realpolitic? Yes. That is the kind of deal you make if you want to survive when you have an overwhelming military force attack your underwhelming defense force.
True. But most of Biden’s lies are the product of a senile mind and the result most of the time is just a collective head shake and a sigh.
When Putin lies he ends up killing people.
And in doing so he deserves to die. The sooner the better.
“Since Russia broke its word when they convinced Ukrainians to give up their nukes, perhaps the west should give them back. That way Ukrainians can guarantee their own safety.”
But wait, the west renigged on NATO starting in the late 90s. Russia annexed Crimea after the population (mostly Russians) voted to leave Ukraine almost over 15 years after NATO started expanding and renigging on their promise.
Also, don’t forget that the U.S. was part of the group that advocated for Ukraine to give their nukes. Russia did not do that alone.
They get to live another day. Learn from the Israelis. Build nuclear weapons in secret.
Bush lied and hundreds of thousands died in Iraq possibly a million. What should become of him?
Re: 214 - I think your predictions are reasonable.
I didn’t say they did that alone, that’s why I said we should give Ukraine their nukes back.
And frankly I’m sick of hearing about poor little Putin cringing in terror over NATO expanding. If he doesn’t invade other countries he doesn’t have to worry about it.
