The makeup of the federal government was changed completely under Bush and Obama. It grew a lot and they made sure that activists were installed and what were previous political positions (appointed) became vibilian positions that were impossible to get rid of. There used to be employee turn over every 4-8 years but that no longer happens. There is a permanent class of govt employees that are running the country. That’s what Trump ran into. They undermined him at every turn
Even if he became aware of individuals he would have had no way to fire them. Thanks Georgie. Worst mistake I ever made boying for him
Seems Barr was too busy evaluating Trump’s job performance, to do his own job.
You are correct.
I think it depends on who wins in Congress. whose speaker and Sen leader and if the proper dragons are slayed beforehand.
Why would Barr want people to know this?
Good to hear from you-by the way, I forgot to post how much I appreciated your post at #22...a good post.
“Breaking Rice Bowls”...I never heard that, but intuited immediately what it means!
There was also the Senate factor. Trump had to get somebody that would be confirmed by the Senate. There were too many weak-in-the-knees types who just wouldn’t vote for a really good Attorney General. A Richard Burr for example, would never vote for somebody who would thoroughly clean out the FBI. So Trump picked a former Attorney General, “sure, he’ll get through, he got through before” they told him.
Giuliani’s background would make him less trustworthy than any lone else who was even mentioned as a potential AG back then. The guy was totally immersed in Bush/GOP globalist initiatives since the day he left office as mayor of NYC.
It would be fascinating to be privy to the conversations, not just the “recommendations” to Trump and to see who was giving them, but also from the side of the people recommending a pick who had backchannel conversations with their “recommendation”.
I fully get the Senate approval mechanism in play, too. It makes me despise the senior Republican “leaders” all the more thoroughly.
Thanks
I don’t think it’s possible to do the job well. The DOJ should have been shut down years ago, and the AG relegated to the minor executive branch role it was before 1870.
Has the FBI figured out the password yet?
I have no need or cause to ‘forgive’ President Trump. The punks, who took positions of power, swore an oath to protect and defend our Constitution.. will face perfect justice, what a trial that will be. The biggest gift President Trump gave to the American people was, pull back the curtain of ‘government’ to literally expose, from the top down corrupt oligarchs, serving their own sold out interests.
Just like six Pence, Bull Barr, raced to sign million dollar book deals.. oh and Epstein did not kill himself.. irony none of these traitors to the oath they took, will take with them, one thin dime when they return to the Maker.. Pox on those that receive their ill gotten gains. One could lay the whole Ukraine mess at the feet of Bull Barr.
You ought to read up on Giuliani’s background. He may have been loyal to Trump but he was a globalist lackey with ties to the Bush family for years.
“Dammit, Mr President, I don’t work for you!”
I don’t think he turned it down for health reasons. I think he turned it down because he knew his confirmation process would be a disaster with all the revelations that would come about about his dealings with foreign interests after he left office in NYC.
What I don’t get is why hasn’t Putin released every bit of dirt on Biden/Clinton corruption re: Ukraine. He’s in possession of everything on that lap top plus more. Odd.
A whiff? By wanting the details of an investigation of your opponent’s son right before an election?
…the constitutional atrocities committed by the Democrat Attorney General Garland in the wake of the January 6 protest.
Many of the arrests were made and prosecutions initiated by Trump’s DOJ before Garland was even nominated.
I’m not a big Barr fan but an overtly political DOJ is a bad idea.
Barr was picked to protect Deep State not Trump. The Senate knew that fact. Hunter revelations were there under Barr’s watch. Barr said “he wanted Trump to win” but did nothing.
He did a better job for Bush at the age of 41 than Trump, after all those years of being an insider. He was not going to jeopardize his Deep State relationships.
Ordinarily, career politicians build a following of loyalists whom they can rely on. Trump did not have that, and often accepted the advice of family, business friends, and key political allies in picking personnel. He ended up with a mixed lot. I expect a Trump II administration will be much better in its staffing, with Trump able to pick and chose among proven loyalists.
