"And Uncle Sam still lost"

No doubt about that, but that's an entirely different argument (politicians lost the war, but our armed services did not)

Putin made his decision based on other developments, like the US and NATO renigging on the 1991 Budapest agreements. Putin did not make the decision in a vacuum.

I like short wars & low energy prices.

Have fun with government control freaks implementing sanctions.(At least they aren’t tariffs.)

For Putin’s warning about escalating the conflict right now he has a good bit of his military with their hands full, so the chance of him rolling tanks into NATO countries (or even non-NATO nations) are pretty slim.

I doubt he'd roll in tanks. I'd guess he would destroy the Polish airfields as he has apparently destroyed the Ukrainian airfields.

Heck, a 40 mile long piece of his military seems to be stuck in the mud right now. Some “blitzkrieg” he’s got going on there.

To me this shows that the Ukrainian Air Force is kaput.

That of course is up to ones perspective of what they know.......further i did not say anyone made Putin invade. Additionally there are many issues and things of world events which aren’t logical but are nonetheless.

Another 30 Mig-29s of 1980s manufacture are going to make a difference?

That’s one opinion. I personally think the more Russian equipment and soldiers Ukraine destroy the better off everyone other than Putin becomes.

Amen!

Bombing a Polish airfield would be an attack on a NATO country. Doubt Putin would do that.

Ukraine’s Air Force doesn’t have air to ground capabilities, IIRC. They are still flying, and Russia doesn’t have complete air superiority.

Plus maintenance and spare parts.
This is a very bad idea.

Yes, it would and would result in war with Russia. But from Putin's point of view, using a NATO airfield to attack his forces would also be considered an act of war against his forces.

One could argue that transferring NATO planes to Ukraine is no different from NATO countries sending other weapons to Ukraine and thus, from the NATO point of view, not an act of war against Russia. But Putin may not see it that way.

Biden's handlers need to be very, very careful (and I have almost no confidence in them).

It is just too bad that a sufficient number of Ukrainian pilots are not trained on or have the expertise to operate A-10 Thunderbolt II “Warthogs”, as these are perhaps the best of close air support aircraft in use today.

Coming in at about 50 feet off the deck at 350 knots and strafing a convoy pretty much puts a halt to any forward advancement of logistical support. And a one-second burst of fire from the Gatling gun in its nose pretty much busts up most armored vehicles.

The problem is that the A-10 is a type that has never been in the Ukrainian Air Force. In fact it has never been sold overseas previously. If types that are currently in the Ukrainian Air Force are added, there's deniability that NATO is involved in direct combat. The gun is a bit overrated. The Russians have much better anti-aircraft defense than previous opponents the USAF has faced. It's the ability to add smart air to ground standoff weapons that makes the A-10 viable. Those can added to the Soviet/Russian fighters.

They are heavily upgraded from a their original configurations. The USAF does similar things to planes built in previous decades. The Israelis have done several upgrades to many of Ukraine's fighters. Israel has a good reputation for upgrading all sorts of combat systems.
