I can’t come up with what Russia has to do with a Spanish class.
Heard about that this a.m. He’s a math teacher… he should’ve stayed in his lane.
“Liberals claim to want to give a hearing to other views, but then are shocked and offended to discover that there are other views.”
― William F. Buckley
Spanish, not math
What is his Freeper screen name?
The differing view did end the Dixie Chicks career tho. (I realize this is about the classroom. But they got shut down pretty swiftly).
Figures...next defending Putin will be BLM and Antifa.
Spanish class and Arlington. The guy should know better working for Arlington County schools. Wrongthink.
Ukraine is big in the news especially with Putin raising the specter of nuclear war, so I wouldn’t consider it all that unusual for someone in the class to bring it up casually even if it’s off topic for the class. And with this guy being a substitute teacher, the chance of off topic stuff is probably even greater. If expressing any political view in class is forbidden, why is it only applied selectively to those who might buck the politically correct narrative? A teacher expressing support for BLM certainly wouldn’t be punished let alone fired.
Sounds like Tucker has his first guest.
Good to see him gone, we can’t have people in our schools who teach kids how to think and get both sides of issues.
How Soviet to fire someone because of their political position.
I personally think this teacher is an idiot, but the irony of firing someone because he expressed an unpopular political position is a very dangerous precedent.
“I personally think this teacher is an idiot and it is inappropriate for a Spanish class. But it is no different on the stupidity scale than thousands of comments by leftists sycophants in teaching positions that get passes.”
Exactly.
This is bogus. There is a tremendous legal difference between what you can say during your own time as a private citizen away from work, and what you say on the clock. This is especially when you are being paid to teach children. The idea that a teacher has unfettered discretion to teach whatever he/she wants to children because of the First Amendment is absurd.
And all those are inappropriate too IMO.
“I can’t come up with what Russia has to do with a Spanish class.”
Perhaps they were discussing the Russia prostitutes that are so common on Mallorca.
Kinda outside the framework of an 8th grade Spanish class teaching lesson don’t ya think?
yes V-TWIN I agree
Teachers are employees hired to carry out the wishes of those who hired them. They are no more free to do whatever they wish in their job than is any other employee of any other business, nor should they be.
The teacher was stupid and rightfully sacked for bringing politics into the classroom.
I just wish the schools would do the same for transgenders, CRT and LGBT propaganda.
Selective enforcement of laws and policy is illegal. They can’t allow teachers to indoctrinate students with woke ideology but then fire a guy for reveling his own personal political view. Sounds like he just made an offhand comment to the students as to his view of things, encouraged them to examine both sides of the issue and that was that. But they act as though this guy committed some egregious violation of school ethics. Give me a break.
