Newsom proposes to Force Some Homeless People into Treatment
KSBW ^ | Mar 3, 2022

California's governor proposed a plan on Thursday to force homeless people with severe mental health and addiction disorders into treatment.

The proposal by Gov. Gavin Newsom would require all counties in California to set up a mental health branch in civil court to assist people in need of help but who won't accept services.

The state would require counties to provide comprehensive treatment to those suffering from debilitating psychosis and people would be obligated to accept the care. Some advocates for the homeless have objected to forced care, but Newsom told the San Francisco Chronicle it is past time to talk about civil rights when people are attacking others.

Wow, there must be an election coming, if Newsom proposes something that might actually be a good idea.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the plan is the euthanize these people. It’s par for the course in socialist countries

And he will need only 10 billion more from the taxpayers, right?

You know things are bad when democrats address problems caused by democrats in any way different than blaming those problems and someone else and doubling down on their dumb policies. By "things are bad" I mean donations and polling, they don't care a bit about the people or the city, just power and keeping it.

When it happens in California it must be REALLY bad.

Allowing government to force people into “treatment” for their own good. This has worked really well in China.

Newsom proposes to Force Some Homeless People into Treatment

Well, he's going to have to repeal the Democrat law that Ronald Reagan had to obey, if he want's to do it legally.

...if he want's to do it legally ... oops, the joke's on me.

I hope there are some solid guardrails with this proposal.

Otherwise voting wrong or being anything other than hard left will be a mental condition.

Protesting? Off to the padded room with ya...

Wait a minute! I thought that the homeless problem began when the great civil liberties people on the left said that the mentally ill could not be confined in facilities against their wills. Funny how the solution for the problem is what they got rid of in order to start the problem in the first place.

What could go wrong?

I'm sure that someone like Princess Justine Castreau and his henchb*tch Chrystia Freeland would NEVER use something like this on their political enemies.

This may be the next step in Cancellation of differing political views, like the old Soviet Union...

Recall that it was leftists like Newsom that demanded that the mental hospitals be closed down and the people released because it was harmful to them.

Problem is, they used to have that law until the lefties fought to get the courts to put all sorts of restrictions on it.

So they can’t just reinstate it now so easily. Lawsuits would be filed, and existing jurisprudence would not be in their favor, so the law would probably get struck down.

How is Newsollini defining mentally ill?

Trump supporters? Christians?

Nothing good ever comes from today's democrats. What else is he up to?

“And he will need only 10 billion more from the taxpayers, right?”

Judging this idea requires that we know the cost. Treatment by medical people is very expensive.

They should do a pilot program and see how cost effective “treatments” are.

“I mean donations and polling”

Don’t forget tax revenues. They can’t keep their welfare state and their fat pensions and their social engineering programs unless that money keeps rolling in.

I don’t think that will be enough, since there are related court decisions that are relevant too. So ironically, previous leftist lawfare victories will now be obstacles to the current leftist plans.
