An Arab man — a regional leader of the Oath Keepers — pleaded guilty Wednesday to charges of seditious conspiracy and obstruction of an official proceeding for his actions before, during and after the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol.
As part of this plea agreement, Joshua James, 34, agreed to cooperate with the government's ongoing investigation.
Court documents describe James, a military veteran, as the regional leader in charge of the Alabama chapter of the Oath Keepers. The Oath Keepers were described by the U.S. Department of Justice as a large but loosely organized collection of individuals, some of whom are associated with militias.

James in his guilty plea admitted that, from November 2020 through January 2021, he conspired with other Oath Keeper members and affiliates to use force to prevent, hinder and delay the execution of the laws of the United States governing the transfer of presidential power.
He used encrypted and private communications, equipped himself with a variety of weapons, donned combat and tactical gear, and was prepared to answer a call to take up arms.
On Jan. 4, 2021, James and others went to the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, court documents state. He brought a semi-automatic handgun and stored multiple firearms at a Virginia hotel.

There must have been some pretty damning communications in those encrypted messages that no one outside the court room will ever see to convince someone to plea deal with charges facing 40+ years. My guess is some of these guys were fringe militia types who thought they had secure coms because they were encrypted so they actively talked about mounting an armed response. This is furthered by the large weapons purchases likely also coordinated in those intercepted messages. Lesson to be learned is short of national technical means no form of communication is secure the alphabet guys have unlimited budgets and classified computing technology and literally teams of PhD level scientists breaking codes and encrypted coms. That’s my takeaway while not every oathkeeper is a fringe militia type who plots to go all red dawn on dotgov there are those that do.

If he was under duress, eg held without bail for a year in solitary or whatever, then any signatures might be void.

I grew up in Arab, Alabama. I am proud this guy put up a fight, but deeply saddened that he let our scumbag Government convince him to turn traitor on his fellow oath keepers.
He could have asked for a jury. If he did nothing wrong, then his plea is a lie.
I forgot to add, his plea included his assistance in other prosecutions and investigations. So where’s f he doesnt cooperate, he’s screwed.

Hence why, IMHO, the truckers headed to DC should just do two laps around the beltway and then make sure that any deliveries to liberal areas come to a drip, if not completely stop.
