Ukraine Crushes Three Great Myths About Russia
American Thinker.com ^ | March 1, 2022 | Tadas Klimas

The world has been fundamentally changed by Ukraine. This is true, although nearly all Western coverage has been scaredy-cat and daft.

Russia expected to waltz in to Ukraine. It didn‘t. Russian forces have failed in all their objectives. A thousand Russian soldiers die each day of the assault. In the four days prior to this writing, 4,000 have died. This is twice the number of American deaths in Afghanistan over twenty years.

(And no, Kyiv was never surrounded, and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy lives. Indeed, the airport near Kyiv was retaken by local Ukrainian forces; in essence state-level reservists, who retook the airport from Russian elite troops.)

What this means is that the myth of Russian might has been broken for all time.It doesn‘t matter if the war isn't over. This is evident from the last four days. And there really are no reserves to be thrown in. They would have been thrown in already.

Second, the myth that Russia poses no threat, that it is a normal country if a bit misunderstood, that it is anything other than a primitive dictatorship, has been exploded.

Believe it or not, this myth was held even in the higher reaches of NATO and many European countries which had never been occupied by the Russians. That includes Germany.

Germany for the first time since WWII is sending war materiel to a war zone. It has voted to double its piddling 1 percent GDP armed forces spending. It's suspended Nord Stream 2.

Even Portugal is sending war materiel to Ukraine. Not to be outdone, the European Union has decided to purchase equipment to send. (EU thankfully has no army.)

“Russia expected to waltz in to Ukraine”

Is that a tactical formation — waltzing?

It definitely crushes the Putin myth that Ukrainians and Russians are one people.

Just because this is a conservative think tank, doesn’t mean the author knows what he’s talking about either. This isn’t over yet.

Again with the “1,000 Russian soldiers die each day”. Got any actual proof? Sure I’ve vids of one or two here and there but 1,000 takes a lot of resources to deal with them.

It crushes a lot of myths. Look at Duda’s Poland arm “Nazi” Ukraine with Mig squadrons. But folks with Putin loving eyes who are sitting in their comfy arm chairs in Rio Linda will never see.

Thousands are dead now because NATO did not substantive arm Ukraine earlier. Weakness breeds aggression. That’s not good for those living in a country led by Brandon.

"It definitely crushes the Putin myth that Ukrainians and Russians are one people."

That could've been said about one of the bloodiest wars in history, the American Civil War where 620,000 Americans were dead by 1865.

Let's just change a few of the nouns in your statement.

"It definitely crushes the Lincoln myth that Northerners and Southerners are one people."

I will leave it up to you to draw your own conclusions.

It crushes the MYTH that Vlad is some type of uber 4d chess master. He’s shown he is just a crude minded criminal thug. It’s hard to imagine how he could have screwed up any worse.

I am also a bit skeptical. Russia has 900,000 “men” in its army. Saying they don’t have reserves seems silly considering they have thrown less than 200,000 into this fight. They also claim 2,000,000 reservists. Getting all of these troops into the fray is, I think, part of the Russian problem.

Truth? or Propaganda?
Every day it becomes harder to tell.
Once again:

The military experts I've heard talk about the Russian invasion say the strategy Russia employed was so mind numbingly stupid as to border on incompetence. Whatever General planned it seemed to have ripped an old strategy out of a WW II playbook and not taken into account that warfare and strategy has changed since the 1940's. (which is probably why the General in charge of the operations was sacked after only two days).

They compare it to the successful US invasion of Iraq in 2003, where massive air and cruise missile attacks were conducted for a good while before the ground troops even entered the country, then the ground forces moved pretty much slowly in mass, never getting ahead of their supply lines, straight toward Baghdad avoiding major cities so as not to get bogged down in urban warefare and only hitting military targets that might pose a threat. Then once they took Baghdad and cut off the head of the regime, they dispersed out to take what remained of the now leaderless military.

In Ukraine, Russia did conduct some air strikes and cruise missile attacks, but the number were way too small to do much more than announce "Hey were here get ready! Then they split their army into three parts, one from the Belarus in the North, one from Russia in the West and one from Crimea in the South. A strategy that might have been ok if all three armies had converged on Kyiv at once, however both the Southern and Western armies made the bizarre decision to split up and try and take every major city on the way through and took heavy losses, got ahead of their supply lines with tanks literally running out of fuel and being abandoned. With the end result that their advance was halted with little progress and they were even pushed out of the few cities they did take due to heavy resistance and lack of supplies. Now the Southern and Western armies are essentially bottled up, leaving on the Northern Army alone to take Kyiv, which is wholly insufficient for the task and why they were forced to ask Belarus to send in their army from the North to try and reinforce the Russian army.

Which is where we still stand as of this morning, Russia bottled up in the West and South and hastily trying to reinforce their Northern army to take Kyiv.

It took 43 days for Desert Storm , a couple of weeks to overrun Iraq the second time and 8 years to pacify Iraq.

Their forces were blind and deaf after 72 hours.

The description of their troops movements seem to look like they’re cutting the western supply routes and the port of Odessa. 3 million people in Kyiv without food, water, medicine. Etc….

Putin is dangerous and may be desperate enough to use nukes. He may see the troops in Estonia as a threat in the Baltic states and “defending” Kaliningrad oblast may be his next move to push NATO back.

Great read. This is an epic disaster for Russia on so many levels. Not only has their military power been shown to be nothing at all. All it has is nukes, which only assures it’s own annihilation.

The article shows that the myths spread by the Putinists that “Ukraine is really Russia” are false.

Putin is the new Hitler. Urge the conservative movement to get on board with Ukraine and get the message to Trump that no more compliments of despot Putin are necessary.

You Putinists roll this garbage out all the time... NO CORRELATION.

The confederacy was a rebellion against what they considered heavy-handed US national government power. They still spoke the same language and always had. They wanted to create an “alternate” America kinda like North Korea and South Korea.

Ukraine and Russia don’t even share the same language. It has cultural differences and always has. THEY ARE NOT ONE NATION.

The defenders of despot Putin must be expelled from our movement.

LOL. Nearly 160 years late and, many southerners like myself do not believe we are one people. Yankees move into our state every day, and bring their leftist politics with them.
