The Ukrainian border guards who told a Russian warship to “go f–k yourself” as they defended Snake Island in the Black Sea are still alive and being held captive by the invading forces, Kyiv’s navy revealed Monday.
The 13 guards were initially presumed dead after they defiantly refused to surrender their post on the small island near the Romanian border when two Russian vessels approached last Thursday.
The Ukraine navy said in a Facebook post that the guards had been “taken captive by Russian occupiers.”
“We are very happy to learn that our brothers are alive and well,” the post said.

Shortly after the event, a lot of people were saying the border guards surrendered after the shelling.

I actually know that one.
Back when I was in grade school, I was attending a yeshiva. A private Jewish school. Many, many of my fellow schoolmates were recent Jewish dissidents from the then still existing communist Soviet union. One of whom taught me how to curse in Russian.
I actually saw this same kid get into a brief, small fight with another student. At the end of which the Russian kid threw that curse in Russian at his opponent. The other kid had no clue what was just said to him.
