NEW YORK -- Mayor Eric Adams announced Sunday that a dramatic drop in coronavirus infections could lead to the lifting of vaccine mandates on restaurants, bars and theaters as soon as March 7.
His announcement came shortly after Gov. Kathy Hochul announced her own plans to lift the state's mask mandate on schools, effective Wednesday.
"I'm happy to hear it, if we can get away with it scientifically because I think, boy, we've got to restart New York all the way," resident Tom Fountain told CBS2's Thalia Perez.
Adams said the city would also lift the mask mandate on about 1 million of the city's schoolchildren in the country's largest school system.
Adams said Sunday that a decision won't come until Friday, after a full week of classes after students return from a weeklong vacation.
Adams said if trends continue, he would also lift other measures, including doing away with proof of vaccination requirements at restaurants, bars and other indoor public places.
"At the end of this week, we will evaluate the numbers and make a final announcement on Friday. If we see no unforeseen spikes and our numbers continue to show a low level of risk, New York City will remove the indoor mask mandate for public school children, effective next Monday, March 7," he said.
"Additionally, New York City's numbers continue to go down day after day, so, as long as COVID indicators show a low level of risk and we see no surprises this week, on Monday, March 7 we will also lift Key2NYC requirements. This will give business owners the time to adapt and will allow us to ensure we are making the best public health decisions for the people of New York."

Meanwhile the stab mandates for city employees will continue—and the lockdowns and advance of the stab/social credit/financial control “passports” will be pushed still further by the time flu season returns in the fall.
Yet the brainwashed masses tell each other that “Covid” is over and we are returning to “normal”.
Because we know the virus will cease to exist on March 6. It’s science doncha know. But don’t worry sheep, you can still show your dedication to humanity by continuing to wear those diapers on your face that do nothing but make you feel superior.
In CT the Coof goes away today, 2/28. I guess NYC Covid didn’t get the memo and needs another week to pack up.
Just one more week to see if trends continue. They just can’t give it up. Every other state, city, etc. that never had these mandates or dropped them moths or a year ago is having the same low case rates ans the places withe the mandates.
NYC has a different strain than CT.
Washington State has a REALLY nasty variant - as it won’t die off until March 21st!
(I’m guessing they are ending it now in hopes that the voters will forget by mid-terms.)

That’d be a good start, for sure.
Meanwhile CPAC breezed through with, from what I saw, no pols or other speakers calling out the killer stabs for what they are—only settling for controlled-opposition statements against mandates and maybe against stabbing children. The supposedly best guv on this, DeSantis, still going along with a lot of the underlying, deadly fiction.
Right; that is the worst of the requirements - and NYC was far more harsh than elsewhere.
I assume many people won’t be returning even when that is lifted because they see the writing on the wall - it can return at any time, for completely fabricated reasons.

I guess people without smartphones didn’t go anywhere those were required...
LOL....I can’t wait until March 7th.... Every single restaurant I go into I’ll be shouting “thank God I don’t have to use my fake vaccine card anymore”
Dems that felt blacks couldn’t be expected to show one ID for voting forced them to carry two: a vax passport and a photo ID to verify they were the person listed on it.
You can’t make this stuff up...
