Feb 27 (Reuters) - Russian airline Aeroflot (AFLT.MM) said on Sunday it would cancel all flights to European destinations until further notice after the decision by many countries to close their airspace in protest at Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Likely a pre-emptive move knowing most of Europe is probably set to announce they are closing their airspace to Russian flights.
The Europeans should already have cancelled any Aeroflot flights, but at least the Russians are shooting themselves in the foot, so the foot gets shot either way.
Lots of ways to look at this.
It might be to counter nations that shut down air traffic to and from Russia or..it could be sending a signal for impending further aggression with nuclear weapons.
This world is at the very edge of a catastrophe nobody has ever seen.
Who will blink first?
He’ll cut oil and natgas soon.
I hope he does. Then the Democrats will REALLY look like dumbasses
“Here, listen VERY carefully what this guy says.”

Cogent arguments, definitely brings a deeper and broader perspective to this morning’s events. Thanks for the link.
The people who know Putin the best -- people I know in Russia -- are worried about his recent nuclear statement. The people who know him the least are saying it's cheap talk.— Michael McFaul (@McFaul) February 27, 2022
The Europeans should've done this on day one. Let the planes in their countries go home but accept no new ones.
Putin has moved his nuclear forces to top alert. A global December 7th and not much of a calendar thereafter, could be staring us right in the face.
The Russian in the video argues the U.S. should respond immediately. Unfortunately, it does not appear there is any "lesser evil option" to choose. My suggestion for a response:
"Vladimir:
We are aware you have placed your nuclear forces at top alert. As you well know, the U.S. and much of the rest of the world are already on full alert and have been for years. If you use a first nuclear strike, a flash message to our many nuclear submarines will result in the immediate vaporization of your military, every major Russian city and every bunker that might provide for your personal safety.
You and Russia will never be honored during the little of what will remain of life on this earth, or in any aferlife.
There are other peaceful ways we can resolve our current disagreement."
IMO, if such response was published worldwide and especially in Russia, he would be assassinated within days, if not hours.
Cancelled flights after they were banned...lol
Rumor has it, Putin said he didn’t want to live in a world without Russia. He has two choices….
Yes, this former KGB operator may go kamikaze. Our best hope may be local thinkers who take him out.
