I think I read yesterday that Ukraine admitted it was fake news that they died rather than surrender, after Russia had said the same.
Not a big deal, but it shows how the media is covering things.
This can’t be true. I read it on Facebook.
I believe almost nothing I have read from either side.
None of it is believable. It’s all the equivalent of WWI Germans throwing Belgian babies on bayonets, or Iraqi soldiers tossing babies out of incubators. The “good” stories and the “infuriating” stories are usually tools of manipulation.
“I believe almost nothing I have read from either side.”
I’m willing to believe things when I hear it from both sides, as happened here. But that is rare.
The Russians have not yet been able to produce any of the thirteen and get them on camera
But considering the shambolic way the Russian’s are running their invasion, it may just be that they have lost them.
If it’s on the internet, it’s true. You can take that to the bank!...
The 13 defiant dead at snake island was actually 82 surrendered. The ghost of kyiv fighter pilot was clearly video game footage, the old woman with the sunflower seeds probably never happened either. Anything that sounds like a line from a movie probably is.
Start with the “what” and the “who” of the fake stories before trying to dig into the “why”.
I heard something like they produced a total of 80 prisoners from that part of the war, but even so, who knows.
And one of the problems is that the language and ethnic makeup of Ukrainians and Russians is virtually identical...so we’re pretty much left with joint statements as about the only thing that may be trustworthy.
“”A gas pipeline burns in #Kharkiv after the attack””
This must be what I heard about in the middle of our night - toxic fumes from the fire and people were being told to close their windows!! Shells falling on the city and toxic fumes should be avoided? I don’t imagine windows were opened there in the winter weather anyway!
“A Lie Can Travel Halfway Around the World Before the Truth Puts On its Shoes”
Agreed. Multiple dupes and patsies on FR gladly push these stories without even the most basic factchecking or confirmation.
Bullshit propaganda. The Ukrainians are damned lucky Putin cares about appearances and follows the “U broke it U fix it” saying or he would have leveled Kiev from his lounge chair on his pool deck with a few clicks of the mouse.
Putin could get away with it in Grozny, against Muzzie Chechens, heck most would be rooting for him there.
But Ukraine, the optics matter much more.
Optics and the future. If Putin takes all of Ukraine, their standard of living will improve. A lot by their standards, although not by ours. Bringing median income for Kiev up to Moscow levels would blow them away. I’m no expert on it, but they have minimum salaries in both countries and I think Moscow is like 2 times Ukraine.
Maybe he can win over the Ukrainians. Could be his angle.
Either way, he is gonna get a couple trillion dollars of natural resources at his command.
How could the Ukrainians not be thankful for Putin. He indeed does care so very much.
Prayers going out across Ukraine for Vlad Putin.
I’m not a fan. But, I am a realist.
Putin may be smart but he has no bosses upstairs in the executive offices to reign him in. And a big ego. And, probably a bad temper.
So, instead of trying to humiliate him and his soldiers on what is an inevitable conquest, I would just be trying to make it more difficult for him and more expensive and dim the future prospects instead of tying to get his goat as the saying goes.
I’m guessing that missile into the 5th floor of that apartment was an object lesson, because he could have launched 1000 just like it had he chosen to do so.
The fog of war is always lined with loads of BS to boost morale.
That's a good point.
