There was a book written in the 80's about a Soviet-Block attack against Western Europe. After a few days the attack bogged down and they tried to regain the initiative with a nuclear strike against Birmingham England - the result was a British nuclear strike against Minsk, which ended up bringing down the Soviet leadership.
