Washington-Former U.S. President Donald Trump is assailing Canada as a country of "left-wing fascists" for the way it cleared protesters out of Ottawa last weekend.
Trump's remarks at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference in Florida marked the first time in nearly a month he's publicly acknowledged the protests.
He said protesters in Canada were "slandered" as Nazis, racists and terrorists, charged with what he called "phoney crimes" and accused of being loyal to foreign powers.
The comments prompted a passionate standing ovation from the crowd...
"The tyranny we have witnessed in Canada in recent weeks should shock and dismay people all over the world" he said to hoots and hollers from a sympathetic crowd in Orlando.
"In an advanced Western democracy, that peaceful movement of patriotic truckers, workers and families protesting for their most basic rights and liberties has been violently put down."...

Trump was backing and extolling this from day one, well before it became the amazing phenomenon it did.
Preemptive for ours. He picked side and focused the light on our drivers. Give the left hell DJT! If it didn’t move on a big truck, you don’t have it.
Go Trump! Time to take back America from communists and establishment clowns.
Canada’s problems are the result of one man; Fidel Trudeau. When the Canadian gov’t took away the guns, the citizens of Canada gave up their Country to the Facists. If Americans give up their firearms, the same thing would happen here.
I agree and how’d the equipment, ammo, and clothes we wear get to us. Trucks. We need to support our truckers because they are us, our neighbors, our relatives, and on and on. This is our terminal issue IMO.
This is overstated, the government did not “take away the guns” they just run on promises to take away guns then never do anything remotely like it. Anyone in Canada who wants a gun probably has one or more. Also the idea that we live in some unimaginable tyranny is a bit over the top, it’s hardly any different here than it is there. Which is not to say it’s good, because it isn’t good, but protest will continue, our problem is not a draconian government so much as a stupid population brainwashed by many years of propaganda — a problem you also have but we have it worse (I think), would estimate 20% of the population here retains some critical thinking functions, compared to maybe 35-40% down there. A bit better than Europe though where it might be 10% on a good day.
They did actually do that. They did register arms, then some of them did get confiscated. You are currently in the amnesty for a gun ban, and they will be coming to collect the registered ones that didn’t get turned in.

And you do live in a worse tyranny - your government has declared they can take your money and property without due process just because they feel like it.
I believe he said they’re dummer than us but we’re catching up fast.
He called it right, not just then but now, too.
Brandon Castreau has got to geau(sic)!
Once again Trump is correct
Just because you don’t agree with them
.
20% critical thinking in the US is generous on a given day.
Or even if you don’t actually disagree with them and they just claim you do.
I would agree if this continues but there’s a widespread perception that there are people in the government who realize this was an over-reach and it may not turn into anything very sustained, court challenges to the law are underway, and the government could fall if they go any further with this. So it’s not quite black and white. As to the gun registry, that was later phased out of existence.
However, the real discussion is not whether Canadians have guns (plenty of people have guns) but what the cultural and constitutional differences are, there is no concept here of a “well regulated militia” being a counter-balance to a government doing bad things. I get the principle and would prefer to live in America myself, it’s just not possible to relocate to the USA especially now with the COVID restrictions and my decision not to be injected.
On the other hand, I don’t feel like this has turned into a harsh dictatorship, a lot depends on how we come out of this pandemic and what happens in politics here in the next 2-3 years. We could end up with a better situation. The over-reach about banking has woken a lot of people up, as they think through what if some other government doesn’t like my views, and so as always, there’s an ebb and flow, this is not a one way street. Global events could overwhelm that local assessment as they could anywhere. A global war would be a much different set of challenges from what we face today.
They are also my son. His office is anFreightliner.

What alarms me is it boils down to the whims of our ‘leader’. Fidelito or Brandon wake up one morning and declare an emergency/ martial law.
The police, instead of questioning the legality, enforces the edict. That really disappointed/alarmed me. The idea of police arresting a minister for holding church services ? Threatening parishioners?
Similar incidents here in the US also.
Police were actually closing down services being held like Drive-in movies!! Congregation sitting in their cars! HUH?
If the police had any cojones they would have said ‘He!! no!’
Certainly confirmed the ‘I was only following orders’ defense.
Oh, one more observation.
Your Parliament House voted to give Fidelito an extension of his iron hand.
Sounds pretty dictatorial to me.
I wish he would have spoken up at the time the protests were going on, the thing that really sucks is that Donald Trump can’t get his message out as before, he’s been cancelled everywhere and soon OAN is off air.
Move down here whenever you’d like and tell the authorities you’re from Latin America. They’ll fly you to whichever city you prefer..
