Bloody nose for isolated Putin as China ABSTAINS from from United Nation's Security Council vote on condemning the invasion of Ukraine: Moscow votes to veto
UK Daily Mail ^ | February 26 2022 | Reuters

Russia vetoed a draft U.N. Security Council resolution on Friday that would have deplored Moscow's invasion of Ukraine, while China abstained from the vote - a move western countries view as a win for showing Russia's international isolation.

The United Arab Emirates and India also abstained from the vote on the U.S.-drafted text.

The remaining 11 council members voted in favor. The draft resolution is now expected to be taken up by the 193-member U.N. General Assembly.

Kazakhstan declined the invitation to provide troops to the Russians, and also refused to recognize Putin’s new “independent” states.

China abstaining is a “bloody nose”?
Since when?
Especially since there was a Russian veto anyway.

I think maybe we should’ve listened to Russia when they kept saying they didn’t want NATO next door pointing weapons at them. We didn’t like it when Khrushchev was installing missile silos in Cuba either.

It’s like the Versailles Treaty.

I hope Clemenceau is roasting in Hell for it, but that being said, of course it didn’t justify what Hitler did.

Just as this doesn’t justify’s Putin’s actions, although he does have a case against NATO. Now, he’s forever blown the chance.

Nobody is going to put nukes in the Ukraine. NATO is essentially a defense pact. The comparison to Cuba kind of fails. I’ve seen a lot of people make this comparison, but the only justifiable fear Russia would have, is if it planned on attacking the Ukraine. It is exhibiting the same bluster again about Sweden and Finland. Now there’s two nations that are always threatening their neighbors. /s

Putin’s not protecting Russia from anything. Nobody wants Russia.

It’s basically the same argument Hitler had about Czechoslovakia, it wasn’t just the Sudetenland, that was just a ruse.

Hitler saw Czechoslovakia as a plot to place an ally of France and Britain right up against Germany’s border, and you can see by a map of the time what he was referring to. He thought of Czechoslovakia as a “bastard child” of the Versailles Treaty, and didn’t deserve to exist as a nation.

Up to a few days ago, for years I tried to give Putin the benefit of the doubt. But when he basically said these very same things about Ukraine, that’s when I turned on him.

I think maybe we should’ve listened to Russia when they kept saying they didn’t want NATO next door pointing weapons at them.

Except NATO already borders Russia, and none of those countries have any military capable of "pointing" a threat at Russia. In contrast, Russia has nukes on NATO's borders and has broken every arms agreement they have ever signed with us.

"Is there any more useless entity than the UN?"

The UN has been useless for decades, and they're peacekeepers rape women and children. I'm still laughing over the 16 resolutions they passed against Saddam Hussein, and he never complied with any of them. Maybe #17 would have done the job.

There is THAT isn’t there?

Watch how fast the swedes and the finns try to get NATO cozy now.

It seems there is a little ray of hope now though that putn is being seen as irrational even by his own people. Zelensky is not the thug his predecessors have been nor is he a putin puppet like the ones driven out by the Ukranian people in 2014.

Europe can’t say too much or their gas will be cut off but what good does that do putin? Not like they will get gas from somewhere else or he will sell it to someone else, china maybe?

Good points, the NATO angle begins to look like a poor excuse for an invasion of Ukraine.

The pipelines angle also gets weak with Nordstream. Why do you need a pipeline that goes to Poland when you have one and possibly two that go to Germany and can put a trunk line into Poland?

More and more it begins to look like putin has lost his mind and is in a hurry to restore the former soviet union before he runs out of means for it. I too gave him a massive benefit of doubt but he is behaving very KGB agent now.

There is the Russian paranoia to deal with but that is always there and has not gone away since the first of many invasions of the mother russia. The people of russia are acting like maybe it should. I don’t see much enthusiasm for this bullying at home. Russians killing Russians in the homeland of the Rus?

Consider putins declaration of war address. It quickly devolved into a rant against the great satan or something like that going back more than 30 years for every action the US has taken since the fall of the Soviet Union.

Like one of you said, who wants Russia? Who do they need to defend themselves from? This almost looks like a gang war to wipe out some oligarch rival.

What will really be interesting to watch is what the former satellites do, if anything, in response to the threat of being returned to beneath the Soviet thumb. Then there is the rest of Europe, will we see NATO get serious about their own defense or just hope that we come to their rescue again? Then there are the Russians themselves, do they want to return to the days of the Supreme Soviet?

If you look at the GDP of the former satellites and even Russia, their GDPs have steadily improved after the initial shock. Some, like Moldova have not but what do you expect? Who but a former KGB agent with visions of glory and conquest would want to go back to the way things were? Russian people seem to be proud of being Russians, not Soviets. I don’t think putin sees this.

So do we trust Biden, Obama and the globalists more than Putin. Biden out on day one talking about the costs… the dems were about to get wiped out in the midterms over the economy.

I agree with someone on TV the other day saying that China was stunned by Russia’s ferocity. They would exercise more caution than people thought. They have moderated their tone a little. T

As for Pooty, this should be his undoing. He needs to become an international pariah. He should not be treated with any kind of diplomatic respect ever again. This psycho tyrant has lost all pretense of respectability.
