U.S. lawmakers concerned about human rights in China, and their supporters, need to be exceedingly clear that their quarrel is with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and not with the people of China, said Rep. Scott Perry (R-Pa.).
The many human rights abuses in China, involving myriad issues such as forced labor camps, concentration camps, organ harvesting, disappearances, and extrajudicial killings, are urgent issues that call for concerted action, but Perry said that all too often, “China” is identified as the culprit in discussions of these matters, rather than the CCP.
“I think you always have to make the distinction. We have no quarrel with the people of China who are yearning to breathe free, like so many other people around the globe. Our quarrel is with the Chinese Communist Party, and its adherents, and the things that they do to their citizens, and the things that they would like to impose on the rest of the globe. That’s the problem,” Perry told EpochTV’s “China Insider” program at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Orlando, Florida, on Feb. 25.
People concerned about the situation in China have more options than they may realize.
“Everybody can do something, even if it’s just telling your neighbors, ‘Did you know this is happening in China?'” Perry said.
“So that if you have a choice between buying something that’s made in China, or not; if you have a choice between supporting a candidate who supports the CCP, or not—there’s where we make a million choices every single day.”
In the congressman’s view, the American public has received a heavy volume of misinformation about China over the years, some of it emanating directly from the U.S. government, which has tended to paint the regime Beijing as a “competitor in the marketplace” rather than an adversary with a far more sinister plan for global dominance. The CCP “wants to rule the world and dominate the world,” he said.
“So it’s going to take a long time to undo 40 or 50 years of dogma and propaganda, not from the CCP exclusively, but from [the U.S. government] itself,” Perry continued.
Perry sees the current U.S. administration’s approach to China as ill-advised. President Joe Biden, he said, has turned away from some of the tough policies of his predecessor, and the general tendency is to rely on the World Trade Organization (WTO) as an arbiter in disputes. But in Perry’s view, such an approach betrays a lack of understanding of how the WTO works and is doomed to failure as long as Beijing has a vote at the WTO.
“They’re going to continue to lie, they’re going to continue to abuse their privileges. China declares itself an emerging or developing nation, when they’ve got the first or second-largest economy in the world. They’re not a developing nation anymore,” he said.
“And so the WTO can’t be counted on, it must be America.”

The people of China: 1.4 billion vs the CCP, where theh CCP is a very tiny fraction of the population of the country.

We need to stop being so pussy-foot sensitive about groups of people. They are part of that nation. Most are well indoctrinated.
This would not be said if we were facing a European country. No white country, such as Germany again, would be given such quarter about “the innocent civilians”.
Well he does have a point - it’s not Russia with the Belt and Road and having their fingers in half of the Third World, particularly Africa and Latin America. Not to mention China’s threats to Australia (far worse than any of Putin’s threats), and their threat and aggressions in their immediate neighborhood.

In my ever so humble opinion, America’s Greatest Adversary is the Democrat party.

But first we need to declare a no fly zone over Ukraine. We can deal with China in the future - if after starting a nuclear war with Russia over Hunter’s trust fund, we even have a future.

LOL. I don’t know all of Russia’s weapons, but I do know one of them is a nuclear bomb equipped drone submarine. It would quietly park in international waters off of our east cost, detonate its hydrogen bomb under water, and SURF’s UP!!!!, as the Northeast gets wiped out by a Tsunami.
I suspect they’ll start with that.
The Chinese people hate the CCP. Their one try to get rid of them after the Great Leap Backwards was put down with 10,000 dead. People are beaten daily in the streets by the PAP for the merest of pretexts - some are beaten to death.
In China, do as you are told or die. Visit China and be labeled a spy, held in some prison indefinitely - or just disappear.
The people of china don’t like Americans, or anybody else. They don’t even like non-Mandarin chinese. They absolutely do want to rule the world. The author is wrong.
Fortunately he is still mine as he was as a State Rep, and I strongly support him.
It’s is not Russians attacking Ukraine, it is Putin. Just as if Taiwan is attacked it will be the Xi President of China attacking not Chinese. We need to isolate leadership. I still blame some of this movement to allow autocrats to strip freedom to the UK when they relinquished Hong Kong to China. Just as I blame Biden not Americans for the Afghanistan fiasco.
It’s likely that more Chinese die on a yearly basis from hands of the regime, than would die if the people rose up and revolted.

Then you should go over there and preach your gospel - you can take this opportunity to lead the Chinese revolution against the CCP. Go man. What are you waiting for? Or are you just another puffy chested arm chair general willing to stir up trouble and get other people killed to satisfy your ego?
You have absolutely no idea what Chinese culture is like given that lame retort.
Non one is preaching anything - you just are truly a puffy tolling armchair general who has not the foggiest notion of the Chinese culture or you would never say what you did.
