Former President Barack Obama issued a message of support for President Joe Biden on Thursday, urging Americans to unite behind economic sanctions against Russia.
“Every American, regardless of party, should support President Biden’s efforts, in coordination with our closest allies, to impose hard-hitting sanctions on Russia,” Obama said in a statement sent to reporters, defending Biden’s sanctions as a serious attempt to put “a real price on Russia’s autocratic elites.”
Obama’s statement of support for Biden follows his own failure to stop Putin from annexing Crimea in 2014 when he was president.
The former president also urged Americans to embrace any economic pain that they would suffer as a result of sanctions on Russia.
“There may be some economic consequences to such sanctions, given Russia’s significant role in world energy markets,” Obama wrote. “But that’s a price we should be willing to pay to take a stand on the side of freedom.”
The former president urged Americans to think globally and act to defend freedom for not only Ukrainians but for people around the world.
“The consequences of Russia’s reckless actions extend beyond Ukraine’s borders,” he said.
Obama warned of the “forces of division and authoritarianism” that were taking root around the world and said Putin’s “brazen attack” should be confronted.

Maybe Obama can lead the way by selling a couple of his multi million dollar houses and donating the money to the Trump campaign.

And there it is. In case anybody missed the storyline... all our current problems in the US are brought about by Putin’s ambitions in Ukraine. Nevermind that the economy took a dump long before Putin’s troops entered that country. And if you don’t support President Dementia’s efforts to get us into a nuclear shooting war with Russia, then you are just a no-good, rotten Trump-supporter — and probably a racist terrorist too.
I urge Obama to go first, sell all that he has and give it to this noble cause.
As for me, I’m not gonna give even a pittance out of my pittance … and I’m certainly not going to support Joseph Stealin.
It’s corrupt bozos like Obama who will feel economic pain when the gravy train from Ukraine to their pockets is finally cut off 🤪
We were already being screwed by Obummer’s buddy on pretty much everything especially energy *before* President Retard’s latest problem he always needs help with.
Barrack, the “president” already has enough cheerleaders in the media. He doesn’t need you out there trying to rally the troops. Don’t you have other things to take care of getting that new Lie-brary built in Chicago? You know, the one that neighborhood wishes to get rid of before it’s even fully built.
not going to ‘feel’ a price
Get bent, Hussein.
Former?
Vladimir Putin’s Russia has a GDP roughly the size of the state of Texas. Why would Texas tell the world how its tolerance for pain would be? That is unless it’s not Russia making these decisions? Huh?
“The former president also urged Americans to embrace any economic pain that they would suffer as a result of sanctions on Russia.”
Ya, they’re gonna hug the heck outta that.
Gfys berry no one cares what you think or want
Obama is in on a scam a minute. If he loses Ukraine, it’ll just be something else. Maybe Netflix can up the antenna for the dreck he’s peddling.
Anybody pulling for Putin is also cheering Biden.
They are on the same team.
Most folks are too dense to see that unfortunately. It’s like the Greeks cheering on the Carthaginians during the Punic Wars.
What economic pain?
Ukraine and Russia are of no economic significance.
Hmmmm, Trump put sanctions on all kinds of people and we didn’t feel any pain. Maybe Biden doesn’t know how to do it.
Economic pain for our border first.
Russia could retaliate for Western sanctions by voiding Western intellectual property rights in Russia.
Once a new factory is opened using confiscated intellectual property then going back to old arrangements would be difficult.
