President Joe Biden on Thursday condemned Vladimir Putin for his invasion of the Ukraine and announced a series of new sanctions on Russian financial insitutitions that he said will have a 'severe' effect on that nation's economy.
'Putin is the aggressor. Putin chose this war. And now he and his country will bear the consequences,' Biden said in remarks at the White House.
He accused Putin of empire building with Thursday's invasion into the Ukraine. And he said he didn't underestimate the Russian leader.
'He has much larger ambitions than Ukraine. He wants to re-establish the former Soviet Union. That is what this is about,' the president said.
He said he had no plans to speak with Putin.

It was Biden’s policies and weakness that enabled this. He is further enabling it by even further restricting US oil and gas production - further enriching and empowering Russia and further weakening the United States.
“New sanctions” will mean alternate means, new contracts and 10% for the big guy.
Who in the right minds would want to take Chernobyl?
Remember. On Biden’s first day in office, he canceled the Keystone XL Pipeline and he later canceled drilling rights on all federal land destroying U.S. energy independence and making us dependent on Russian and OPEC oil for our energy. Then he OK’d Russia’s Nord Stream Pipeline. HE CAUSED GAS PRICES TO DOUBLE IN LESS THAN 1 YEAR. HE ATTEMPTED TO BRING UKRAINE INTO NATO GIVING PUTIN THE EXCUSE TO INVADE. HE AND HIS SON EXPLOITED UKRAINE’S CORRUPTION TO ENRICH THEMSELVES and HIS PERCIEVED WEAKNESS HAS EMBOLDENED BOTH RUSSIA AND CHINA TO INVADE THEIR NEIGHBORS!!! How can we trust him to do the right thing now?

Russia might have been worried about a deliberate or accidental bombing of the still deadly nuke plant that could unleash radioactive clouds

Well, as long as the Russian troops are camping out in the vicinity no one would be dumb enough to launch any artillery or air strikes at them.
No, I think Biden’s actually right. Putin is going to do what he will do no matter how ill-advised it is. The man seems to view lying as his super-power. Personally, I think he should have paid more attention when the Chinese said they wanted their land back, and maybe not put Russia at their mercy economically, and oh yeah, maybe not declared war during a demographic catastrophe, but thats just me.
