My prediction: The EU will impose sanctions, and some them will be harsh. But over time these sanctions will be lifted as Putin shows progress in protecting human rights.

Of course Putin will not be showing any progress in protecting human rights. But the EU needs Russian energy. So the EU will simply see what it wants to see. Gotta get that Russian gas flowing again before next winter!

Putin is not known for human rights violations that I know of.

Germany closed the pipeline already. That is likely more harmful than extra sanctions

Not just winter, Parts of Europe can get hot and dry in summer. Portugal right now experiencing a serious drought. The summers will be hotter. Those A/C don’t work well on wind power.
