Silent bank runs. This moron and his wacky assistant moron don’t realize that banks run on faith. Once a significant doubt enters into the equation, people start pulling their funds out with the resulting very, very bad consequences.

t nobody in Washington would give a sh!t if those truckers blocked every street in Ottawa for the next century.

They didn't care about Ottawa, but they certainly would have cared if those protests spread to the US.

If the government can freeze you financially at any moment, why keep money in a bank? At zero interest, just keep as much cash as possible in a safe somewhere. I would be withdrawing all I could if in Canada even if I was not impacted.

Anyone else seriously thinking of treating US banks the same way?

Given the typical gridlock of the Washington beltway, it might not be noticed for several days.

The House of Commons voted and passed it. The Senate was debating before voting and that came to a screeching halt this afternoon.

It was never passed. This indicates to me the Senate was not going to pass it.

Now amnesty for all, release any bank account holds, return property, drop all charges.

I haven’t heard anyone but myself mention that for decades! (goes to show who I don’t know).

Yep, half-passed, which has as much clout as Pelosi’s gang passing a resolution that’s headed to nowhere.

Still, this is unexpected. Maybe the WEF is being forced to act when not ready.

That’s what True-dolt fashioned the ‘Emergencies Act’ House of Commons vote as. With the help of the WEF lead (Jagmeet Singh) socialist party (NPD), the Lieberals won the vote 185-151.

Now, the $64 question is, did they ammend the ‘Proceeds of Crime and Terrorist Financing Act’ (which allowed the banks to seize accounts, without due process), or was the ammendment merely a part of the ‘Emergencies Act’?

In a way, I hope that he sticks around for a year, so that the financial results of his actions start being felt by the sheeple that voted for him. On the other hand, even another minute of him in charge of ANYTHING is too much!

” The enactment was meant to be a warning of how the government would deal with protests unfriendly to the official government stance on any matter.”

OTOH, people and businesses withdrawing money from banks was a warning of how people would deal with a government unfriendly to peoples’ rights and freedoms.

“I think some are reading this wrong. He is declaring victory.”

Of course he’s going to declare victory.

But clearly he did not have the votes so he revoked it before it could be voted down.

“And there’s the Queen’s rep”

I don’t see anyway that QE would approve of this Stalin garbage. She always seemed to me to genuinely like the common folk.

I’ve come around to the thinking that there is value in the monarchy in that it serves as a final stop gap if things really get out of hand, due to populist waves (and no I reject the notion that Trump ever was a Populist), and keeps continuity in a society.

"After his prepared remarks about his reversal in position, Trudeau was softly questioned about internal documents discovered by the Canadian Senate that point toward Trudeau’s cabinet discussing the political benefits they would gain by invoking the Emergency Act."

Oops.

I’ll add another: too much attention growing regarding what Klaus Schwab and the WEF have been up to?
