Russia pushes into Ukraine, West hits back with sanctions

BRUSSELS (AP) — Shocked by Russian President Vladimir Putin’s order to deploy troops to separatist regions of eastern Ukraine, world leaders moved quickly Tuesday to impose as forceful a response as possible in hopes of averting a full-blown war in Europe.

Germany made the first big move, taking steps to halt the process of certifying the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline from Russia — a massive, lucrative deal long sought by Moscow, but criticized by the U.S. for increasing Europe’s reliance on Russian energy supplies.

The rest of the European Union soon followed, with a first set of sanctions taking aim at the 351 Duma legislators who voted in favor of recognizing separatist regions in Ukraine, as well as 27 other Russian officials and institutions from the defense and banking world. They also sought to limit Moscow’s access to EU capital and financial markets.

Trump stopped the pipeline. Then biden approved it because, well Trump. I know it's been said a billion times, but the media does not print the news. They print an agenda, and a very deceptive one at that.

I like these strong moves by the Germans. They have mobilized most of their population and have them set to menacingly shiver at the Russians.

Didn’t the US send troops to secure a separatist region in Yugoslavia?

Just sayin

A carefully worded letter to Putin should do it! (Cut it out!)

Umm, correction. Criticized by Trump and Republicans. One of the first things Biden did was remove the Trump sanctions on Nord Stream 2. Dems shocked that appeasement didn’t work.

It’s not our fight, the USA needs to stay out of it. Do sanctions against Mexico, and deploy our troops at the Mexican border. Protect our homeland and citizens first.

Why would there be a full blown war? Putin got what he wanted. He’s probably happy to let the West keep propping up the rest of the kleptocracy of the Ukraine.

Biden is a CCP asset who deliberately made a fustercluck of the Afghanistan withdrawal.

Whatever else you have to say about him, Vladimir Putin is a serious man.

Boris, for all his faults, has the best plan here.

Putin stays in power because he has made a group of oligarchs very wealthy. Seize their wealth, prevent them from spending it in New York and London. Soon that group that keeps Putes in power may decide he is more trouble than he is worth.

To which Putin says: okay, that's the signal to go and take all of Ukraine, and perhaps much more. Thank you Biden!

Did you watch his speech? Biden may be senile, but Putin is nuts. Deep trouble for the world that both nations are controlled by mental invalids.
