Krystal Guerra’s Miami apartment has a tiny kitchen, cracked tiles, warped cabinets, no dishwasher and hardly any storage space.
But Guerra was fine with the apartment’s shortcomings. It was all part of being a 32-year-old graduate student in South Florida, she reasoned, and she was happy to live there for a few more years as she finished her marketing degree.
That was until a new owner bought the property and told her he was raising the rent from $1,550 to $1,950, a 26% increase that Guerra said meant her rent would account for the majority of her take-home pay from the University of Miami.
“I thought that was insane,” said Guerra, who decided to move out. “Am I supposed to stop paying for everything else I have going on in my life just so I can pay rent? That’s unsustainable.”
Guerra is hardly alone. Rents have exploded across the country, causing many to dig deep into their savings, downsize to subpar units or fall behind on payments and risk eviction now that a federal moratorium has ended.
Idiotic comment.
Either everyone being “slaughtered” will get angry and want change, or they won’t.
Thanks for the scolding Mitch.
I think he was approached by his pastor on behalf of the resettlement agency.
In any case, he is not doing it.
He said he doesn’t want a bunch of bombmakers next door.
😜😱
Good advice but those outside areas are increasing as well.
If you have equity in a home, my advice is sell immediately, buy land and kit home with solar, fireplace or wood stove, well, septic, generator, county power backup, Musk’s Starlink system for internet.
But hurry.
Public Works Directors are in some counties putting moratoriums on septic permits because the rural populace don’t want the city problems coming to them.
Can’t blame them.
Also, there is a photo of Krystal.
I don’t see many companies hiring her to be a marketing executive with her being 32 years old and 100 pounds overweight.
And soon there will be “free” rent, “free” apartments, “free” houses, paid for by those who still have jobs.
They are taking full advantage of the crisis they have generated to turn this country communist.
I have no idea what you’re trying to convey. Rains falls on the good and bad alike. Millions of people being crunched aren’t part of the problem, but you’re reveling in their circumstances because some people will get angry or some people won’t.
Last paragraph...Krystal is moving in with her boyfriend. 😹
“I have no idea what you’re trying to convey.”
I see a country stupefied by their lack of interest in things real, and their fascination with their cell phones. The people around me cringe if the subject of the nation’s direction ever comes up. I’m that looney old man that they stay away from because I have a penchant for noticing reality. Even bringing up the Biden admin’s hand in raising energy prices causes people to look at me like I’m some kind of demon.
The media endlessly spins and gives my neighbors talking points so they can ignore the “lies” that I spew.
As far as I am concerned, real pain is the only route to gain their attention. And if it does get their attention, they may actually get involved and vote in a way that makes sense. Or, I could be wrong, and no amount of pain will overcome their belief in what the media tells them. In that case, the morons deserve to suffer.
Either way, I say good.
Cloward-Piven imbeded,
Yup!
True. He was brought in for help with covid.
Not for running and manipulating the economy, like the ones now working in the CornPop administration.
Simple solution though. One that not one person at any level of government would be willing to do though.
I did a search, but as usual the search function comes up empty
Well, well, well. That answers a question I’ve been pondering. Thanks.
Not to worry.
Joe is blocking all evictions and your taxes are paying for rent-free apartments.

I am fully against the illegal alien invasion from the southern border just as much as anyone else here is, but I wish more was said (and done) about the droves of Chinese investors dumping their capital in American assets such as land and housing.
“ It was all part of being a 32-year-old graduate student in South Florida, she reasoned, and she was happy to live there for a few more years as she finished her marketing degree.“
And did we learn anything about marketing honey?
They pretty much reflect our actual inflation rate, which is approximately 20% a year.
Of course, our waving in millions of illegals every year from our Southern border puts even more pressure on rental markets as well.
I live in a really awesome community, and it has always been a “thing” around here that if you go for a walk, some car is going to come up next to you and ask if there are any units for sale or rent. Yesterday, I wasn’t even in the road…I was sweeping my patio when a car (with California plates) stopped at the curb, backseat passenger rolled down the window and screamed at me, asking if I knew of any units for rent. I said no and they drove on and I muttered, “Hell, I hope not anyway.”
