Six months ago, the transatlantic alliance was on shaky ground, with President Biden’s promise of a reinvigorated NATO under U.S. leadership severely undermined by the Afghanistan debacle and a foreign policy that seemed unready for prime time.
Today, Biden and his team have redeemed themselves in the eyes of many NATO allies, with a tough stance on Ukraine and the successful wrangling of the often-fractious alliance to support it.
Ukraine’s fate, and Russia’s future relationship with the West, remain uncertain. Biden has said he is convinced Russian President Vladimir Putin, with more than 150,000 troops and massive weaponry amassed on Ukraine’s borders, has decided to invade, despite the West’s offered carrot of negotiations over a new European security architecture to address his concerns if he withdraws, and the threatened stick of harsh sanctions and isolation if he does not.
But regardless of the outcome, officials, diplomats and experts have already begun charting the winners and losers.

Different owner, same lap dogs.
“Compost still trying to polish a turd.”
Lol! Ya can’t polish a turd, but you CAN sprinkle it with glitter...
Today, Pentagon Spokesman John Kirby says Putin hasn't done enough provocation to justify any further sanctions. Did he notice Putin has amassed even more troops on the Ukraine border and put on demonstrations of missile capabilities? But that activity doesn't justify sanctions.
The Brandon Regime further claims that if/when Russia invades Ukraine, we would then think about imposing sanctions and return to negotiations.
This makes no sense. We would then be negotiating Russia's withdrawal from Ukraine and negotiating the release of Ukrainian refugees who fled to Russia back into Ukraine, meaning, we would be negotiating for hostages.
Look at the fine job we did in Afghanistan. We armed our enemies with top-notch military equipment. Will Putin send Brandon a thank-you note for all the new equipment Russia will acquire when Ukraine loses this skirmish?.
Zelensky is right when he said, after meeting with our brainless foreign policy expert, Commie-Lah - "What are you waiting for?".
President Brandon has a 5-decade record in Washington for being on the wrong side of every foreign diplomatic issue he saw.
We are so screwed.
And if you're not first, you're last.
I never thought I would see biden and leadership in the same sentence. How far the country has fallen.
Wag the Dog, part 2.
Ukraine is the size of Texas. Putin is never going to invade and sack Kyiv with 100k troops. This is a totally manufactured “crisis” by both sides.
I know zero “average” people that give a damn about Russia or the Ukraine.
Energy/gas costs, inflation, crime, their children’s learning and future are so far ahead of two trash countries.
Soooo, the guy who showed weakness and lost Ukraine, risking our boys in war, will be seen as a hero? I don’t think so.
Biden is likely aware of all the death and misery of war, but also perceives political gains- so he’d be good with it. Who knows maybe there’s 10% for the big guy...
They're probably drawing up another non aggression pact, after which they'll divide up Poland again.
I bet Pee Wee Herman is awestruck too!
Karen and Missy from the WaPos ..perfect
Good catch.
The wapo, what a JOKE.
These guys are really funny and all in for Biden.
Don’t believe anything you read in a left wing biased deodorant media.
ANYTHING.
Journalism is DEAD.
.
Leadership comes through talking to the people and that’s not happening.
Washington Post = CIA.
It is therefore certainly fake.
