Elon Musk’s The Boring Company is moving ahead with plans to build underground tunnels for cars in a bid to relieve clogged roads and highways in Miami and Texas.

Musk’s firm has submitted a plan for a 6.2-mile underground transit system in South Florida where commuters would take Tesla vehicles that would carry them between seven stations.

The North Miami Beach Loop includes stops along State Road 826 between Golden Glades Transit Center and Sunny Isles Beach at Newport Pier, according to Business Insider. The goal is for the system to carry between 7,500 and 15,000 passengers per hour, according to company estimates.

Elon’s Tesla tunnel in Vegas is a joke. There are a number of videos detailing the problems with Elon’s tunnel ideas. Go to YouTube and search for Common Sense Sceptics or thunderf00t and get the other side of the story.

Musk is not impressive.

You do not understand space.

Elon and SpaceX are opening the door to the entire solar system for all mankind. And the USA is first in line to go through that door. And all that Pocahontas and the FAA can do is try to slow him down over bureaucratic BS.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

And if you don't think that opening up space is big enough, wait until the Space Force figures out what they can do do with his heavy rocket. How about 10,000 orbiting smart bombs that can hit anywhere on earth in under 20 minutes. And instead of an aircraft carrier and a cast of thousands of good men in harm's way it happens for 10% of the cost of the carrier.

And if for some reason you still want to achieve the old-fashioned air superiority in a small country those smart bombs can simultaneously crater every unfriendly runway within 1000 miles of that country, and every missile installation to boot. Nothing can take off to challenge our planes. Nor can they land.

Eh. I just don’t care enough. I live in Big Sky country. I had some fun here.

Elon’s was an oddly worded statement.
Pregnant with wisecrack potential.

However, great things start small. The story of engineering. Instant gratification is the scurge of society.

Since the water table is about 6” down in Florida, I don’t see this plan working.

>>He’ll turn the thought into something.

Yea, most likely the ‘something’ will be a few billion dollars of taxpayer-financed welfare for him.

Here is a crazy idea to alleviate traffic. Spead out. Live in a smaller town and do not move to a big city.

Good luck with building any transportation system in Austin, the dopers never approve of any improvement when cars are involved.

Someday only poor people will drive cars. The need for roads will be a political argument about catering to the underclass. The rest of us will get around in our jet mobiles like in the cartoon the Jetsons.

Those are deep blue city bell holes with very high murder rates. Traffic is the least of their problems.
