Ukraine: We’re Not Worried About Invasion Because Russia Has Been Invading Us for Eight Years
Breitbart ^ | 17 Feb 2022 | JOHN HAYWARD

Posted on 02/17/2022 4:44:32 PM PST by E. Pluribus Unum

Ukrainian state media outlet Ukrinform ran an editorial on Wednesday arguing that Ukrainians are unfazed by the war hysteria gripping many Western politicians and media outlets because Russian forces have been in their country for eight years.

Ukrinform billed the lengthy article as “an editorial, aiming to convey to the Western audiences, including journalists, what’s on the mind of the Ukrainian people these days, why they have no fear, and what is the main motivation driving the nation.”

The gist of the editorial was that life continues as normal for Ukrainians, who are certainly aware of the Russian threat but not obsessed with it. Unlike some outside observers, the Ukrainians are not responding with great alarm to each tidbit of news about Russian activity on the far side of their border.

“The country’s capital Kyiv, along with other major cities, remains vibrant and lives a normal life with children going to school, businesses and offices remaining open to clients, no one taping their windows in anticipation of bombing or digging trenches in the suburbs to ‘meet’ Russian tanks,” Ukrinform wrote.

The key passage in the article needled Western media for paying so little attention to Ukraine while Russian-backed separatists waged a brutal war in the eastern part of the country, perking up only when the narrative of a Russian invasion kicking off World War III fired up their imaginations:

Some western journalists perceive our population as “fatalists,” which is plain wrong. In fact, there is nothing “heroic,” “fatalistic,” or even unusual in such human behavior. The reason behind it is quite simple – Russia has been waging war against Ukraine for eight years already. These are the eight years of daily reports of deadly shelling, IDPs, and casualties among our military and civilians.

EMEMBER THE LUSITANIA! (And the Vincennes incident and Air Malaysia Flt #17)

The following was inspired by this email:
“The U.S. military appears to be using a lot of commercial carriers to move troops and equipment. Forward. Making everything in the sky a legal and viable target. If shooting starts, will be necessary to ground all non-military flights. Anything in the air is then a war bird. Globally. And ships. This could instantly break the legs of global economy, allowing the globalists to institutionalize war powers for years and suspend elections, etc.”

My thoughts: I wonder how to track all of the commercially contracted cargo planes that are flying American war materiel into Ukraine? Commercial aircraft are also used to ferry large numbers of American troops to Eastern Europe.

It would be easy to mistake a same-airframe cargo plane carrying weapons for a similar plane carrying civilian passengers into Ukraine. And remember the USN warship Vincennes accidentally shooting down an Iranian airliner over the Persian Gulf in 1988? More recently, how about Air Malaysia Flt #17, shot down over eastern Ukraine in 2014?

The Vincennes and Air Malaysia shoot-downs strongly point to an aviation “incident” being a likely cause for all-out war in Europe. In today’s white-hot environment, a passenger plane being shot down could ignite a wider war in days if not hours. Beware of war-hawks manipulating flight paths and schedules to increase the likelihood of a “useful” aviation catastrophe.

The Brits were concealing war materiel in the Lusitania when it was sunk by a German U-boat in 1915 near Ireland. This was after the Germans publicly warned that all allied ships coming to the UK would subject to attack. That incident was used by interventionists to bring the USA into WW1.

Remember the Lusitania. I think we’re a lot closer to 1914 than to 1938.

Why would Russia want to get into a shooting match with Ukraine?

How is that to their benefit?

Sounds like the Stockholm syndrome. The bottom line is the millions Stalin starved. If they can accept that we should let the Russians have them.

Kind of like what Mexico’s been doing to us. Except no one in charge cares.

If Ukraine isn't worried about a Russian invasion maybe they can return all the missiles we gave to them.

So the US is building up a stockpile of missiles on Russia's border?

Sort of like when Russia built missile silos in Cuba?

Hypocrisy much?

“Why would Russia want to get into a shooting match with Ukraine?”

It would be a dumb move, but the common view that Putin is a tactical genius is mistaken.

He looks good because he was up against Obama and Biden, but that is saying the Cleveland Browns are a good team because they whipped the East High School girls touch football team.

In reality Putin’s 20 years has been a series of strategic blunders, and the worry is he is about to make another.

The USA has been being invaded for 30 years and both parties have kept the border open.

Keep electing Bush Leaguers like Amnesty Senators Rubio and Hoeven and we WILL lose our country.

“What’s in it for Russia?”\

Ukraine is a world leader in food exports.

Ukraine is very rich in natural resources, 4th overall in the world, and a leader in Lithium (you probably have heard of it). They have the most iron ore in the world.

Who would know more about an impending invasion of Ukraine??

Would it possibly Ukraine who know the Russians better than any other people and who deal with them daily, person to person. Ukrainian intelligence can probably give you the name of every Russian commander and what alcoholic beverage they drink.

Or the US administration who are an ocean away and use satellite photo for basic intelligence operations.

Problem is, it works both ways. Russian intelligence can probably give you the name of every Ukrainian intelligence operative and know how best to spoof each one.

Not just official intel but the people have been living as neighbors and fighting of and on forever. There are families who are partly on one side of the border and the other. My point is that the locals know the situation much better than some spooks across the ocean.

Pretty big difference between short range anti-tank missiles and medium range nuclear warhead ballistic missiles.

Of course that is the sort of lack of distinction I would expect.
