As President Biden travels and attempts to change up his media interactions amid low approval ratings, Mariel Saez, the White House’s director of broadcast media, is set to leave her post after a year on the job.
CNN reports Saez, who has worked on both Biden’s presidential campaign and inaugural committee, will depart in the coming weeks.
It comes after a tenure steering officials to U.S. television hits and a relatively stable White House communications team. It also comes in the wake of a string of departures from Vice President Kamala Harris’ office.
The White House came out on record in praise of Saez and publicized quotes from Communications Director Kate Bedingfield regarding her ‘dedication’ and ‘strategic advice’ in order to prevent a similar narrative from taking hold within its own ranks.
‘It has been an honor to serve the President as Director of Broadcast Media, and I am grateful to my talented and dedicated colleagues at the White House and across the Administration who worked hand-in-hand with me to communicate the President’s priorities across broadcast media,’ A statement released by Saez read.

Biden’s Director of Broadcast Media, Mariel Saez is quitting
She resigned just weeks before Biden is scheduled to deliver his State of the Union address. In addition to the speech, Biden will be joined by top TV anchors for lunch.
On NBC, Biden sat down for an interview with Lester Holt during the Super Bowl, during which portions of the interview were broadcast amid the Ukraine crisis and the search for a Supreme Court nominee.
According to a media critic in the tossup state of Arizona, the ‘Joe Biden Super Bowl interview with Lester Holt went by so fast you could have missed it,’ as many key news nuggets were already out beforehand.
In addition to regular White House speeches and sparring sessions with the media, the president has also been giving sit-down interviews to local news outlets amid low approval ratings.
Among Biden’s broadcast interactions, he managed to avoid the ‘filter’ of Washington, D.C.-based media.
Biden spoke for nearly two hours during a rare press conference last month. At that event, he signaled a new communication strategy, as his approval ratings have consistently been in the low 40s, and the mid-term elections are less than a year away.
‘Number One: I am getting out of this place more often. I am going to go out and talk to the public,’ Biden announced. Biden, however, hasn’t managed to get out of town aside from short day trips about once a week due to global challenges and the ongoing pandemic.
As part of his efforts to help the Biden administration make its case, Saez has set up more than 2,700 interviews. Her tweets detail some of them, including SBA head Gina Raimondo’s reaction to a 7.5 percent annualized increase in inflation last week.
A third of the jump in January was due to problems affecting supply chains affecting used car prices, according to Raimondo.
In the RealClearPolitics average, Biden has just 41 percent approval after developing a net-negative rating last summer.
Having a broadcast job requires working long hours, so she can work interviews starting as early as 5:30 AM or show up on local news at 11 PM. Her previous role was assisting House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer for a decade.
Saez’s exit comes after a series of departures from Kamala Harris’ staff. Symone Sanders, Harris’ chief spokesperson, left recently, as did Ashely Etienne, her communications director.
Kate Childs Graham, the speechwriter for Harris, is leaving her post and is expected to depart by the end of the month.
Kate Bedingfield, White House Communications Director, applauded Saez in a letter to CNN.
‘Mariel has been an invaluable member of our team, and her strategic advice and counsel, close relationships with the networks, hard work, and dedication served the President, the Vice President, and the entire Biden-Harris Administration so well,’ Bedingfield remarked. ‘She is a tremendous talent and an incomparable teammate, and we will miss her dearly.’
In an interview with NBC News last Thursday, Biden referred to Holt as a ‘wise guy’ after the anchor asked him what he meant by the word ‘temporary’ as inflation surged for the first time in 40 years.
In an attempt to reassure consumers, the White House insists that rising prices are ‘transitory’ and will drop when pandemic supply chain strains diminish.
However, the Labor Department reported last Thursday that annual inflation was 7.5 percent last month – its highest mark since 1982.
‘I think it was back in July, you said inflation was going to be temporary,’ noted Holt.
‘I think a lot of Americans are wondering what your definition of temporary is.’
Biden smiled as he retorted: ‘Well, you’re being a wise guy with me a little bit.
‘I understand, that’s your job.’

Attempts to dismiss the increases as temporary have led critics to claim Biden is out of touch as his approval ratings plummet.
Bye
With some luck, Biden and Harris will be left with a staff of maybe 10 people, all commies. But the smaller the staff, the less trouble they can cause.
Let’s be honest, Brandon’s a tough sell.
There are plenty of Virtue Grandstand jobs in DC she can fill.
The only people interested are ChiComjoe's fellow traitors.
Not guilty.
Or they will be a hardcore dedicated bunch operating with no internal dissent...
And the less number of people to be hanged after the fair trial.
“plenty of Virtue Grandstand jobs in DC she can fill”

She wasn’t communist enough.
Her entire career has been spent while propping up democrat party politicians ...
Well, by left standards, which are not very high to begin with. Maybe if it was last call at the bar...
Yup
She’ll land a journo job somewhere
More like No Sale
and another one bites the dust ... apparently gilding dog turds is more difficult than it looks ...
