DETROIT (AP) — Tesla is recalling nearly 579,000 vehicles in the U.S. because a “Boombox” function can play sounds over an external speaker and obscure audible warnings for pedestrians.
It is the fourth Tesla recall made public in the last two weeks as U.S. safety regulators increase scrutiny of the nation’s largest electric vehicle maker. In two of the recalls, Tesla made decisions that violate federal motor vehicle safety standards, while the others are software errors.
A message was left Thursday seeking comment from Tesla, which has disbanded its media relations department. The company is not aware of any crashes or injuries due to the problem, NHTSA said.
Tuesday’s recall is the 15th done by Tesla since January 2021, according to NHTSA records. In addition, the safety agency has opened multiple investigations of Teslas.

IIRC didn’t Musk just beat it out of California?
Sounds like payback.
Correction: Brandon’s handlers are at war with Elon...
Elon derided Biden.
This is payback................
Nah, Brandon hated him from day 1 because they are not unionized.
Elon got a little full of himself and bit the hand (government) that fed him.
And ya don’t get a recall for all the rotten Ford truck frames?
Rotten GM brake/fuel lines?
or recall every POS that Chrysler has produced since Iacocca?
“Elon might not be such a genius after all.”
“The problem will be repaired with an over-the-air software update that will disable “Boombox,” in drive, reverse or neutral, the agency said.”
I dunno....when’s the last time you heard the “big” 3 say they can fix a recall without a single car needing to be taken to a dealership?
Sure seems suspicious, doesn’t it? Elon Musk hasn’t been kind to the Biden maladministration, and now Tesla is under regulatory scrutiny. Dare oppose the left and they will use every instrument of power to take you down. It might even be a real issue with the cars, but left-favored companies likely get a pass. Get on the wrong side of these people, and suddenly every regulation and tax will be enforced or the nth degree. OSHA, IRS, etc will be beating a path to your company’s door.
BTW Elon, put a grill on those things so they don’t look like some molded plastic car from a carnival ride.
Just one of Several reasons..............
IT’S INTENTIONAL.............

The FAA has already shut down SpaceX’s Starship launches for the most part - eliminating their rapid prototyping.
they’re easier to spot and avoid in the event of an oncoming emergency... 😁...

I am not defending Brandon, but Tesla’s initial quality sucks.
Elon Musk is a genius, but he admitted in his Joe Rogan interview from about a year ago that there is more to producing an automobile than the power/charging system.
All those other things that Toyota, VW, Ford, GM, Volvo, Mercedes, even Chrysler have been doing for about a hundred years actually matters.
Tesla had to design and build/buy all those other things in an automobile that we take for granted. Like when you press the button, the windows go up and down. That the heater works in the winter and the AC in the summer. That the seats move up and down and back and forth. That the lights, turn signals and horn work. There are thousands of parts/systems in a modern automobile.
That is why MY first electric/hybrid vehicle when I decide to buy will most like be a TOYOTA.
Tesla has increased their overall quality and the learning curve is getting lower. To start a car company from scratch in today’s overregulated world is a monumental task. I think they have done pretty good overall and are getting better every year........................
“... look like some molded plastic car from a carnival ride.”
What kid doesn’t fantasize about driving a carnival ride car on the highway?
Marketing.
