Biden Claims Nord Stream 2 Could Be Toast, But Does Germany Agree?
Townhall ^ | Feb 07, 2022 | Katie Pavlich

Speaking during a joint press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz at the White House Monday afternoon, resident Joe Biden claimed the Nord Stream 2 pipeline from Russia to Europe will be stopped if President Vladimir Putin invades Ukraine. The Biden administration greenlit the pipeline project last year.

...

Biden also encouraged Americans to leave Ukraine so they "don't get caught in the crossfire."

...

But while Biden doubled down on the ability to keep the pipeline from operating, Scholz wasn't as definitive in supporting that option.

...

Before the question and answer portion of their press conference, Biden and Scholz focused much of their opening remarks on climate change.

Biden’s red line is as weak as Obama’s was in Syria.

If the Europeans had any sense, they would tell the US to pound sand and take care of themselves. However, then they would have to pay for their own defense and lose all the money they get from having American bases there.

The US has no control over the pipeline. The pipeline is to Germany’s benefit. It bypasses Ukraine and their “fees” for using their pipeline.

It seems like the Germans are stuck with Putin.

Lol, I think that is true of all our “allies”. As long as we give them money and fight their wars, they are right there with us.

Germany made a pact with the devil, and it will embrace Russia. So, Germany has made its choice. Aside from a few countries I can count on one hand, Europe can stew in its own juices. As for Ukraine, it is not our fight. Ukraine is corrupt, and fickle as hell (remember, Ukraine welcomed the Nazis as “liberators” in 1941). Ukraine’s geopolitical problem is its location (a buffer between the West and the East, much like Poland; but, Poland is worth defending).

I don’t understand why or how the USA has any control over NORD 2. The pipeline runs under the sea from Russia to Germany. Where does our veto power come from?

The alternative pipeline is through Ukraine where to pump gas costs a lot in transit fees and Bidens get a hefty cut off from it.

Very messy, indeed. The EU directly dependent upon Russia for its energy needs. Meanwhile, Belarus is exporting its vast potash (major fertilizer ingredient) resources to Russia because Lithuania prohibited use of its railway and port.

In summary, Russia controls energy and crop production for Europe. Uh oh. We live in interesting times.

That is a reason for Biden to prefer that the Ukraine pipeline be used. But what actual power does he have over the seabed Nord line?

No more than Germany and Russia have over issues of trade between the US, Canada and Mexico.

The war on fertilizers is not any less troblesome than the war on fossil fuels. I wonder what the globalists are up to?
For all the talk of “Russian control,” it is not Russia that is blocking fuels and fertilizers to Europe.
