An entry level vault associate at a Home Depot in Arizona was arrested last week on charges of passing counterfeit money totaling nearly $390,000 over a period of about three and a half years.
The US Secret Service, which was originally founded in 1865 to enforce laws against counterfeiting, said in a statement that Adrian Jean Pineda admitted to the crime when confronted by Home Depot supervisors and federal agents.
According to the complaint filed in the Arizona District Court, Pineda went on Amazon and bought pretend $100 bills designed for movie props and bearing the serial number "PLAYMONEY," which he substituted for real bills from the store's cash register.
As a vault associate for Home Depot — a position with an average hourly wage of $14, per Glassdoor — Pineda was responsible for preparing bundles of cash for deposit at a local Wells Fargo branch.

Ha! As a yout I worked in a gas station in the 60s, remember giving them out. We had to make change in real money, calculate green stamps, check under the hood, etc.
Hes always been an idiot.
Indeed— each denomination of our “currency” says “Federal Reserve Note”.... they are ALL promissory notes, or in other words nicely printed checks- authentic and everything.
Recommend the most recent Red Pill America podcast on the entire process of post WWII Bretton Woods, removing British Stirling as world’s reference currency, and replacing it with Gold Backed (since the US had all the gold then apparently) US dollars. Then came the spending spree along with LBJ’s “War on Poverty” (which poverty won) massive expenditure of US wealth from our Treasury. The result massive inflation.
Then Richard Nixon came along and took US currency off the Gold Standard. And now comes digital money flooding Wall Street and every where point and click... and a tidal wave of inflation. Inflation is insidious GOVERNMENT taxation of the People.
As a 7 year mid level manager with HD, this amazes me.
Please don't encourage him.....
I don’t know why I see gum ball hunter at first glance.
Every side of him is the bad side.
I think it was Walter Williams who said that if you are ever arrested for counterfeiting, just tell them you were engaged in monetary policy.
Nixon had to take USA off any sort of hard money standard in order to print up trillions of un backed Dinetos. Needed to pay off the Vietnam e
War bonds that LBJ ran up. He ran them up because — as he correctly observed— the American people eill give me their. It’s to send to the war trenches. But they will never give me the taxes needed to pay for the war.
Humblegunner still piggybacking on FR with his own blog posts, I see.
The coffeemaker was bumped up to espresso, did no one notice?
Home Depot was cheap in paying someone just $14/hr to handle all that money plus they needed to have multiple people look at the same money to verify. Wells Fargo being Wells Fargo.
Took all that to get us out of the demonrat’s war that really began under Truman in 1952.
I am hoping Wells Fargo will honor my $7.000.009 of “play money”. Too.
