Over 300,000 U.S. federal workers eligible for unions, White House says

WASHINGTON, Feb 7 (Reuters) - The White House on Monday released a highly anticipated report from its labor task force that highlights low union participation in the U.S. government, and includes nearly 70 recommendations on how the government can help workers join labor unions and bargain collectively.

More than 300,000 employees in the federal government, the country's largest employer, are eligible to join a union but have not, the report said.

The government will offer unions seeking to build membership greater access to federal employees, the reports says, and push agencies such as the National Labor Relations Board and the Federal Labor Relations Authority to coordinate on worker organizing.

Liz Shuler, president of the AFL-CIO, the country's largest labor federation, comprising 57 affiliated unions and 12.5 million workers, told Reuters the U.S. labor movement will "be the eyes and ears on the ground," making sure the report gets implemented.

"I think this could be a game changer, to have the power of the federal government examining itself and how its practices can be utilized to advance worker organizing," she said.

Letting public employees unionize spelled the doom of this republic. The taxpayers, who pay these ne’er-do-wells’ salaries, have no say in the “collective bargaining” process. What a scam.

Unions can steal your money and give it to any party they want.

It seems like the MSM want all the departments in D.C. to be unionized,

The unions should be outlawed since the money comes from "We the People".

Currently nearly 1.1 million employees — or 31 percent of the federal government’s workers are unionized.

To many but government unions city, county & state as well as federal is the only growth area for unions.

Federal Employee Unions
AFGE American Federation of
Government Employees.

APWU American Postal
Workers Union.

NALC National Association of
Letter Carriers.

NTEU National Treasury
Employee Union.

AFSCME Union of state, county
and municipal employees.

I’ve always heard the NTEU is the most radical. They infest the IRS. If there is any place that union politicization does belong is in the IRS.

When I was a Federal employee, I was automatically a Bargaining Union Employee *(BUE). I was represented by a Union, but I was not required to join the union; I never paid a cent in dues. I bet Biden wants to require employees represented by a union to join.

This issue is becoming national news because of an Instagram account that has been blowing up over the last couple weeks. It's called @dear_white_staffers.

It's an account run by an anonymous former Hill staffer who has been receiving and publicizing stories sent to him (or her) by current and former Hill staffers (mostly claiming to be minorities).

They tell tales of low pay, horrible hours, and terrible treatment at the hands of Members of Congress and their fellow coworkers. It is causing semi-hysteria on the Hill. The funny part it, many of the Members are Democrats. The Members are going to be forced to support unionization because of this anonymous account. We live in crazy times.

If any of you know how to use Instagram I'd suggest checking out the account.

For a brief second I read unions as onions. Need to save this title, it could be prophecy in the coming food shortage.

No Government worker union should be officially recognized.

Yes most federal employees already are represented by Unions but are NOT required to join or pay dues as a condition of employment and most have never joined the union.

Sounds like China Joe may be planning on making it mandatory all bargaining unit eligible Federal Employees be members of the union or at minimum pay union dues as a condition of employment.

That would directly violate the recent SCOTUS Janus decision and likely would get shot down by the courts should China Joe require all Federal Employees to join a union.
