NBC Refuses to Run Ad Critical of Chinese Communist's Human Rights Abuses

The unelected gatekeepers of our national morals, the censors at NBC Universal, have deemed any criticism of the Chinese Communists during the Olympic Games to be a sacrilege and have forbidden it. The network is refusing to run an ad critical of the Chinese Communist government’s human rights record.

Only happy faces of smiling athletes are allowed to be seen. No Uyghur detention centers. No clinics where forced sterilization of Uyghur women is performed. No factories where Uyghur slave laborers toil.

NBA player-activist Enes Kanter Freedom of the NBA's Boston Celtics is featured in the spot. Kanter is one of the few NBA players that has openly challenged the CCP on their human rights record. In 2019, he criticized China’s occupation of Tibet. In October of 2021, he called China’s President Xi a “brutal dictator.” While the rest of his fellow players have largely been muzzled, Enes Kanter Freedom has spoken out.

The ad was bought by Florida Rep. Mike Waltz and paid for out of his campaign funds.

Quite fittingly, the snowflake has been a prevalent image during the Olympics so far. It’s a perfect description of American companies like NBC, Nike, and Visa who are cleaning up after investing billions of dollars into the sponsorship deals.

The 30-second spot, purchased by Florida GOP Rep. Mike Waltz, blasted the event as the “Genocide Games,” referenced China’s long history of human-rights abuses, and called out major US companies for participating.

Waltz, the first Green Beret to serve in Congress, has long been a tough China critic. He billed the $40,000 ad to his campaign.

“This is the equivalent of holding the Olympics in Germany in the 1940s or Rwanda during their atrocities,” Waltz told The Post. “It is beyond the pale that the [International Olympic Committee] didn’t move the games.”

The ad pointedly highlighted companies for their business relationships with China, including Visa, Coca-Cola, Nike, Intel, Procter & Gamble and more.

NBC claims that the ad violated their guidelines because it featured the logos of companies that were being fingered by Waltz.

NBC is a wholly owned subsidiary of Red China.

They can’t make their masters mad.

slave laborers

Under true Communism (and the constitution of Communist China), able adults under retirement age must work.

It is their “glorious duty” under Chinese law.

Amazing how dead-on accurate he was so many years ago.

Frankly, it gets more challenging each day to maintain hope and a positive outlook.

This is truly satanic evil...and it can only be defeated with total destruction of those perpetuating it on America and the world.

“This is the equivalent of holding the Olympics in Germany in the 1940s”

Well, the truth is, Germany hosted ALL of 1936 Games. Garmisch Parten-Kirschen and Berlin.

The other truth is no Games were held anyway until 1948.

I’ll cut them some slack there because they have reporters in China. That we shouldn’t be there at all is another subject. I haven’t watched a minute of it.

NBC Universal. They need to keep the Chicomm market open for their movies.

We ought to ban all commerce with China.

Link to ad.

(I actually found the link @ the Washington Examiner web site.)

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/mike-waltz-advertising-nbc-olympics

NBC is probably on fairly solid legal ground unless it can be shown they’ve not followed their own guidelines in the past, when it comes to other such ads.

Also... NBC itself HAS sort of half covered the issue. The broadcast schedules are altered from usual: Twice when I’ve turned on the TV to check for weather news (our weather has been “interesting” the last few days & our local NBC affiliate has a couple pretty good mets, and, admittedly, another who’s barely passable), instead NBC’s anchor in Beijing, Mike Tirico, has been on (once with two other panelists) discussing the accusations of Chinese repression, Chinese denials, etc. It’s considerably more coverage than you’ll see on any other major network, I’ll wager. Many millions of viewers who probably were barely aware the issues exist have at least been exposed to them, and know we and others are diplomatically absent from the Games, while Russia, etc., ARE there...

Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, both segments (with the exception of one of the panelists who was more direct) basically wrap up with: “Well, there’s the description of the contentions, both sides presented — we don’t really know what the truth of it is. Up next is figure skating.”

This from a news organization that spends millions of $$ to try to convince us they are our best source of news and information on issues. The gap in credibility / assumption no one will see through the lack of going deeper, on just this one issue, is astounding in one sense, but, to be expected on the other.

If I was Rep. Waltz, I’d talk with my allies and do a different ad, challenging NBC to do an hour prime time show on the issue, half for the accusers, and half for the Chinese gov’t officials to do their spin. Feature Enes Freedom & give him a better script (or maybe just his own, with a little general direction): He’s pretty persuasive at times.

Heaven forbid NBC do any actual investigation of their own, tho’ they should at least present why they don’t or can’t dig deeper themselves, taking equal time from both “sides” above.
