Candice Bergen, elected on Wednesday to replace the ousted Erin O’Toole as interim leader of the Canadian Conservative caucus, came out swinging in her debut House of Commons appearance by blasting Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for refusing to extend an “olive branch” to Freedom Convoy demonstrators.
O’Toole was dumped by the Conservatives in a secret ballot and replaced by Bergen (who is not to be confused with the American actress of the same name). The Conservatives felt O’Toole was ineffective as an opposition leader and blamed him for losing a snap election to the Liberals in 2021 – a vote forced by Trudeau that looked like a dangerous miscalculation on his part for a while, given mounting public unhappiness with the state of Canadian affairs under the pandemic.
Bergen presented herself as a more pugnacious alternative to O’Toole on Monday when she attacked Trudeau’s hypocrisy for wearing blackface in his school days and demanded that he apologize for dismissing the huge Freedom Convoy anti-mandate movement as a pack of racists.
On Thursday, Bergen said she was determined to strengthen the Conservatives and leave the opposition in fighting shape for the next permanent leader, who will be elected in a contest that has yet to be scheduled – the third leadership race in five years.
Bergen restated her support for the Freedom Convoy and blasted Trudeau for attempting to slander and ostracize the demonstrators.

Canada has a wierd voting system. Trudeau did not get the majority vote in Canada. If I am not mistaken, Trudeau got in with only about 30% of the vote
What next, a false flag?
Parliamentary systems work by making multi-party coalitions. Bennett in Israel got less than 6% of the vote, but he’s PM anyway.
The false flag is al;ready happening, There is a shared meme about the truckers in Ottawa being dangerous and violent with some individuals coming in from the USA to cause insurrection trouble. Its a huge laugh. The CBC and the CTV are cranking the prpaganda out 24 / 7 every 15 minutes. Its a laugh.
There are no photos of these violent people. They are imaginary. In truth the Truckers have been donating excess food to a local soup kitchen for the homeless, patroling their own group to idenify anyone who might enter to cause trouble, and make sure that their are traffic lanes always open for emergency vehicles. The police would like to harass them but they can’t because the Convoyers are not breaking the law. They make noise on the hour until the night time and do not honk at night after 8 pm.
The population of central Ottawa is stone cold Socialists . So the denisens of the Ottawa Communist Cabbage Patch have lost their smug edge and now are mad that they can’t go and get their latte three times a day. What a crock.
Cnada is not buying it, Since yesterday their Give Send Go page substituted for Go Fund Me ( they bailed based on false information that the truckers were engaged in harassment). The new site has raised over 100 grand in just 24 hours.
