Former Vice President Mike Pence on Friday directly rebutted Donald Trump’s false claims that he somehow could have overturned the results of the 2020 election, saying that the former president was simply “wrong.”
In a speech to a gathering of the conservative Federalist Society in Florida, Pence addressed Trump’s intensifying efforts this week to advance the false narrative that, as vice president, he had the unilateral power to prevent President Joe Biden from taking office.
“President Trump is wrong,” Pence said. “I had no right to overturn the election.”
In a statement Tuesday, Trump said the committee investigating the deadly Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol should instead probe “why Mike Pence did not send back the votes for recertification or approval.” And on Sunday, he blasted Pence, falsely declaring that “he could have overturned the Election!”
Vice presidents play only a ceremonial role in the the counting of Electoral College votes. Any attempt to interfere in the count would have represented an extraordinary violation of the law and an assault on the democratic process, sparking a Constitutional crisis.
Pence, in his remarks Friday to the group of lawyers in Lake Buena Vista, described Jan. 6, 2021 as “a dark day in the history of the United States Capitol” and framed his actions as in line with his duty as a constitutional conservative.

The 2020 election was fraudulently won by Biden. Sour grapes are not the issue. Correcting a corrupt election system and putting criminal actors in prison is the issue!
People are tired of business as usual! People are tired of representatives who are unwilling to fight! People are tired of, "We'll fix it next time"!
The 2020 election needs to be overturned, the rightful winner installed and criminal actors put in prison or hung for treason!
In a sense, Pence is correct, he had no right to “overturn” the election. But Pence DID have the right to identify disputed results as not ‘regularly given’ and ‘lawfully certified’ for several battleground states, and send them back to be corrected or validated by means of a 10-day emergency audit.
Maybe for the most part the role of the VP may appear to be ceremonial because, in the past, there were no results to question for many years. It is not ceremonial if there exist serious allegations of fraud and illegal conduct.
Pence could have urged Congress to immediately appoint an Electoral Commission, with full investigatory and fact-finding authority, to conduct an emergency 10-day audit of the election returns in the disputed states. Once completed, individual states could have evaluated the Commission’s findings and convened a special legislative session to certify a change in their vote, if warranted.
There is a growing mountain of evidence of fraud and illegal conduct that the rightful winner of the 2020 presidential election was Donald J. Trump.

“Just saw Mike Pence’s statement on the fact that he had no right to do anything with respect to the Electoral Vote Count, other than being an automatic conveyor belt for the Old Crow Mitch McConnell to get Biden elected President as quickly as possible. Well, the Vice President’s position is not an automatic conveyor if obvious signs of voter fraud or irregularities exist. That’s why the Democrats and RINOs are working feverishly together to change the very law that Mike Pence and his unwitting advisors used on January 6 to say he had no choice. The reason they want it changed is because they now say they don’t want the Vice President to have the right to ensure an honest vote. In other words, I was right and everyone knows it. If there is fraud or large scale irregularities, it would have been appropriate to send those votes back to the legislatures to figure it out. The Dems and RINOs want to take that right away. A great opportunity lost, but not forever, in the meantime our Country is going to hell!”
Not certain Pence is the deviant everyone here is making him out to be. He didn’t think it was legal and probably still doesn’t. But here in Indiana, he was not known for his great scholarly mind nor shrewd legal logic. He’s bright, but not brilliant, honest but not great at framing the argument.
I’m not sure the solution was what everyone here says. I know there is precedent for it. But we’ve known for too long that democrats steal elections. We need to control it at the state level. Democrats were never going to sit by and let Trump win after the results were announced. We have to defeat them before they get a chance to cheat.

But to ignore the magnitude of corruption in elections and of officials - including our own Rs is to sanitize what happened and normalize it.
It remains an issue in the hearts of patriots - seemingly far more than you recognize.
As to 30 Pence, he is planning to run for POTUS. He must be fully revealed as the deep state creature he is - along with so many more.

They are not natural born citizens as they were born with the foreign nationality of their foreign national parent(s).

Yep, Congress has the authority to accept of reject any or all Electoral Ballots. That’s what they did in the Tilden/Hayes dispute. You’ll notice the VP didn’t appoint any commission, the VP didn’t determine which ballots were legitimate. That’s because the VP has no powers under the Constitution or Federal Law to determine which ballots to accept of reject.
