Like California, Facebook is losing people. Wonder why

Facebook is going the way of California.  It's losing people.

The news for the social media behemoth was grim.

According to CNBC:

Facebook shares tumbled more than 20% in extended trading on Wednesday after the company reported disappointing earnings, gave weak guidance and said user growth has stagnated.

For the schadenfreude-minded, it's expected to take the largest one-day loss in all U.S. corporate history, with some $200 billion likely to be wiped off the company's valuation in the course of trading today.

Heckuva job, Markie.

And yes, the key data point is that they are losing people:

That's more than a million users, which marks the first time the company's user base has ever contracted.  Like California, more people are leaving than coming.  No new people, no new earnings growth.

Facebook's pals in Big Tech are going down, too.  Seems no one is all-powerful anymore.

The company, and its founder, Mark Zuckerberg, blamed everyone but themselves for the company's bad news.  Zuckerberg said it was the allure of TikTok, the Chinese spyware company that serves as a forum for lunatic left-wingery, and its apparently addictive quality to teenagers.  Other Facebook execs blamed those bastards at Apple, who instituted a revised iOS privacy policy that prevents Facebook from harvesting users' data without their express consent.  Some analysts blamed the astroturf "whistleblower" featured on 60 Minutes and in testimony to Congress that Facebook knew that its Instagram app was bad for teenagers' self-esteem, which was old news when it came out.  All of this could be at least partially true.

That’s what happens when you censor different opinions.

Exactly. I dumped facebook over a year ago. In fact I cut way back on social media of all forms. I do not miss it. I have many other hobbies and interests - most of them away from the computer. Social media has lost me, they have nothing to offer that interests me.

That’s what happens when you censor different opinions.

Hence the rise of alternatives like Gab, GETTR, Rumble (video) and Parler. And even payment services like GoSendGo.

Apple Animal House. “Facebook is spying on our customers. They can’t do that . We are the only ones who can spy on our customers”

Apple just exclusive rights to spy so they can sell those rights to others.

Follow the money.

Big Tech is the enemy of freedom and privacy for everyone on the planet.

It’s also the excessive number of adds they force on you.

And they’ve ruined the marketplace with sponsored adds and the “local only” filter has to be reset every time instead of being the default. Basically, they’ve caused user fatigue by excessively inconveniencing the user in favor of the advertiser.

Once people migrate off the app in favor of some other activity, they don’t come back.

Part of a bigger plan to disperse socialists into red/purple states. Or some such conspiracy theory.

People go to platforms like facebook to see the people they want to see. If people are banished, people will stop dropping in.

People like me quit Facebook because we’re tired of the one way censorship.

But people leaving California is NOT the same.

They spread their liberal disease wherever they go.

"They spread their liberal disease wherever they go."

Your assertion is the question of the decade that intrigues (and worries) me. Do peeps who dislike crime, inflation, masking, etc. move to Texas or Idaho or Florida and try to impose all that made them flee in the 1st place. ?

Or, do they say, 'we like this newfound freedom, and more money in my pocket.'

States like Washington, Oregon seem to validate the former with the over-the-top policies. Other red-states have not yet proven they're moving from red to blue.

I tend to give peeps more credit...freedoms will win out. What's your experience out and around the 50 states ?

It’s also any technology as it grows. The bottom line is FB is a platform for older people when, in order to grow, you need younger people. They do not want to be on a platform that “Grandma” is on. Period.

“Other red-states have not yet proven they’re moving from red to blue.”

Recent one party states like Colorado, New Mexico and Nevada. Others heavily moved left recently like Idaho, Arizona. All have been profoundly impacted and moved left by Californians and Chinamen.

Were these actual lost users or "bots"?

If you ban a user, do they take their bots with them?

I live in very rural Pennsylvania.

But I have seen PA change over the decades, from red to blue.

Small cities like Lancaster or York have become violent liberal cesspools.

Most people are too stupid to understand their own government public school indoctrination centers, in their *own* states, are churning out conga lines of millions of newly minted leftist voters every single year.
