Florida Republicans have rejected a move to create exemptions for rape, incest and human trafficking in their proposal to ban abortions after 15 weeks. A GOP-backed bill advanced Wednesday.
Florida's Senate Health Policy Committee, which is controlled by Republicans, blocked a proposed amendment from Democratic Sen. Lauren Book.

1. Local Florida media is heavily invested in promoting the abortion industry. Very little of the pro-life argument is presented by the "journalists" in the media.
2. The last year the Florida media has been very keen on this liberal blonde named Lauren Book. She is suddenly they're girl. Remember the failed Texas candidate Wendy Davis, aka Abortion Barbie? Lauren seems to be waiting in the wings, after Nikki Fried fails, to be the real darling of the Florida media.
Good. There should be no exemption for rape.
Why should the child have to pay for the sins of the father?
The laws should protect the innocent.
The woman is innocent, too.
What the media and left fail to realize is that these laws do not outlaw abortion completely....only abortions after a certain period of time.
So, while the hysteria will be that raped women cannot get abortions, the truth is another matter.
Fifteen weeks is more than enough time to determine pregnancy. Rape victims also have the option of the “morning after” pill as well.
Is this Whoopi rape or the real thing?
“Fifteen weeks is more than enough time to determine pregnancy. Rape victims also have the option of the “morning after” pill as well.”
100% agree.
I had a friend as a child who was the product of rape. I don’t know all the details but I believe her mother had been attacked. My friend was kind and likeable, and it was clear her mother loved her.
As I got older and matured, I was grateful for the model. If this woman could keep and love a child after that kind of ordeal then I could too, if it should happen. I can imagine that child brought a lot of healing to her soul.
Yes, the woman is innocent too, but we don’t ask her to pay for it with her life. Why compound the tragedy? If we truly believed that abortion is MURDER, how could committing MURDER of your own child (regardless of how conceived) make a horrific situation better?
You may very well be asking the victim to do just that.
But, 15 weeks is enough time for a rape victim to decide and, gratefully, you will have nothing to do with it.
I think they should have kept a *modified* provision, that the Democrats would refuse to accept, that is, “abortion would only be allowed if the rapist, incestuous individual, or human trafficker has been convicted and sentenced to prison with a large mandatory minimum sentence and no possibility of parole.”
First of all, most criminal trials last much longer than the gestation period. But more importantly, Democrats love violent felons as much as they do abortion, and definitely don’t want them to go to prison at all.
So this would be a lose-lose-lose proposition for Democrats.
Stupid Republicans, keep the no exception clause, but act compassionate. Add a provision that routine medical care for the rape victim will be free until it is determined if a pregnancy will occur or something (someone smarter than me).
Stick to your guns, but be compassionate to the crime victim. Victims should be pampered in our society, not the criminals.
So basically, what you are saying is that if one is traumatized enough, one is justified in taking an innocent life? Murder can be justified? This opens the door on victims of any crime going out to murder anybody, right?
I am just trying to understand your reasoning. But what I think you are saying is that an unborn human is of less value than one already born. Am I correct?
The world seems to have forgotten about the oldest method for birth control that our grandmothers used, the vinegar and water douche.
It can do more to prevent a person from conceiving than most any abortion laws in the nation.
The other is the Coca Cola douche. If used soon after intercourse it also will prevent conception.
There is one drawback with the Coca Cola. If used too late, it may kill the user. The old book EVERYTHING YOU WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT SEX(But were afraid to ask) tells the proper use of the Coca Cola.
My thoughts - if it was truly rape (unfortunately that’s often a question, and would especially be in cases like this) then the person still has a few months after the tragic event to get the abortion, if that’s what they feel they need. The cost of tests aren’t prohibitive, if they are truly concerned about this happening after the horrible original incident occurred.
I'm saying rape is a violent crime that denies a woman her God-given right to consent.
All the state is doing is returning that right; and she is being held to the same limitations as those who consented before conception.
Be careful what you preach. Those who claim to speak for righteousness without a speck of compassion risk becoming the epitome of a tyrant.
Dear Recovering Liberal
You wrote “Fifteen weeks is more than enough time to determine pregnancy. Rape victims also have the option of the “morning after” pill as well”
So you support the premeditated killing of an innocent human being. Your “recovering” from being a liberal is a sick joke.
What you are saying is this: Premeditated murder of okay sometimes.
Just be honest. So call it “compassion” when you promote the murder of an innocent cefenseless person.
Call it what it is
Depravity.
Yes. And her attacker should be found and punished.
The baby is not her attacker.
You sound so cold-blooded. I hope you don’t have a daughter.
