Ice storms are immobilizing. Crippling to road travel... Most severe form of winter weather. ....so good to be alert and watch out for falling trees and powerlines.
I’m in Michigan.
It’s February.
It’s snowing.
It’s completely normal.
Nobody cares.

I’ve read it can be a two part storm....first ice then snow will follow on top of that....which fools people who venture out into it.
Where it’s hitting now lots of vehicles sliding off the roads etc.

People do care because it affects their work day....plus nobody’s comfortable with power outages which is already happening fro the ice.
Yep...we have just rain but temps are already dropping.....went shopping and for a Wed. there were a lot more people stocking up for this storm than I expected.

I realize you don’t get crap like that storm on a regular basis, but nature is a Mother. Here in old Idaho it’s a balmy 4 above. Snow all around and 6 more months of winter the groundhog is in winter sleep mode. Stay home, stay warm, and hunker down. Here in 6 months it’ll be summer for two days then we get ready for winter. Be Safe.

I’m talking about the sensationalizing of it. And weather is something we all learn to live with, no matter where we are. Pushing up people’s anxiety levels and stress regarding it does nobody any good.

i don’t know a single person that has ever used a name for a storm... the year and month if more than one storm but usually it’s just “the storm of 96” etc. and that was always more than enough
