Jury to resume deliberations in Roy Moore defamation case

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — A jury was set to resume deliberations Wednesday on competing defamation lawsuits filed by former U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore and a woman who accused him of molesting her decades ago when she was 14.

After meeting for about an hour Tuesday on the claims by Moore and Leigh Corfman, the jury asked to go home and view videos that were introduced as evidence when they returned. The videos show statements Moore made, at campaign events and in media interviews, denying the accusations.

Corfman maintains Moore sexually touched her in 1979 when she was a teen and he was a 32-year-old assistant district attorney. Corfman filed suit alleging Moore defamed her by branding her a liar when he denied the accusations.

Moore countersued, claiming Corfman injured his reputation with false allegations meant to hurt him politically.

Corfman’s allegations, first reported by The Washington Post, upended Moore’s Republican campaign in 2017 and he lost to Doug Jones, a former federal prosecutor who became the first Alabama Democrat elected to the Senate in 25 years. Jones lost the next election to Republican Tommy Tuberville, who now holds the Senate seat.

Corfman’s allegations, first reported by The Washington Post

By that lying bitch Stephanie McCrummen who made up the "N***er Rock" smear against Rick Perry in Texas.

The Washington Post is the voice of the corrupt deep state/crony capitalism cartel.

Why did she wait so long to share her story?

A woman can ruin any man’s reputation by making a claim long after the fact when it is unprovable

Leigh Corfman

This article leaves out the important fact that Corfman was being represented by Gloria Allred when Corfman admitted that she forged Moore's signature in her high school yearbook. She wrote the name "Moore" in a different colored ink after someone named "Roy" signed her yearbook.

Roy Moore was not the guy and should have never been put in a position to run for the Senate, BUT, these charges are nutty.

He was well liked and respected in Alabama until these fake accusations came out and all the usual "establishment" Republicans ran for the high grass.

Then the RNC stabbed him in the back while prominent Republican officials told people to vote for the Democrat.

All based on lies spread by lying media and lying political opportunists like Gloria Allred.

I will point out that her daughter was caught up in a scheme to make these exact same accusations against Trump when he was running for President, but it didn't work against Trump.

And then of course they tried this tactic against Brent Kavanaugh.

“A woman can ruin any man’s reputation by making a claim long after the fact when it is unprovable.”

BINGO! No matter when the alleged crime occurred, there needs to be a statute of limitations (e.g., 10-15 years) on this crap, and then defamation actions thereafter if publicized.

“He was well liked and respected in Alabama”

It’s disappointing to see so many FReepers who will proclaim the MSM fake news and then believe everything the MSM said about Roy Moore. His “nuttiness” is total media brainwashing. (I think it’s called gaslighting now.)

If I remember correctly, Moore will be able to prove his case.

Agree 100%. I live in rural central Alabama, and there is a lot of support here for Judge Roy still.

Absolutely agree. Both the Democrats and the establishment Republicans do it to anyone who is a reformer. They absolutely hate non bribeable people getting power in Washington DC.

McConnell did not want Moore in the senate because he would not be a “team” player, and would fall more into the One America camp.

Also there was a lot of voter fraud, especially in Birmingham.
