Erasing tribal references from schools and sports teams erases the presence and historical influence of these cultures from modern memory.
Locally, Mt. Diablo Unified School District was crowing about some girl having led a campaign to erase the name “Warriors” from her High School. I’d bet dinner at Ruth’s Chris she never talked to a single tribal leader anywhere about their perspective. These self-congratulatory phonies couldn’t give a rotten fig for the Native Americans, their history, their culture, or modern man’s continued knowledge of same.
