It is called both. The Our Father is the Catholic title for The Lord’s Prayer.

Orthodox as well.

It’s the prayer to keep in the heart and ponder.

I’m 72, and had many Catholic friends throughout that life. This is the first I’ve ever heard of that, even though I’ve engaged in many theological discussions or simple discussions of church topics.

My Anglicanism is showing.

The Lord’s Prayer has the doxology at the end which the Our Father does not.

It is called both. The Our Father is the Catholic title for The Lord’s Prayer.

Catholics have always called it the Our Father because they follow the Jewish practice of referring to a particular prayer by its opening words. For example, the Jewish daily prayer that begins “Hear, O Israel, the LORD is one...”, is referred to as the Shema for the Hebrew word for “Hear.” In Jewish practice, even the books of the Hebrew bible are referred to by the opening words of the book.

The Our Father is the Catholic title for The Lord’s Prayer.

It was called the Pater Noster before either.
