OK, I know this is probably too idealistic, but Newt Gingrich sums up the ideals and principles the GOP should have and not be afraid to talk about and defend. He was actually good at sticking to his guns when he was in the House, although sadly, he was actually dumped by the GOP itself when they didn’t defend him from an insane, off-the-wall Dem attack. Typical, I’m afraid.

But maybe recent experiences will have given some in the GOP a backbone, and Newt’s words will remind them of what it’s all about.

The GOP is after power to ensure that nothing gets done that is not to the benefit of their cronies and the guys behind them. The left is despicable, but the unprincipled GOPeeers are far worse.
