Donald Trump Jr. is competitive with Ron DeSantis in fresh 2024 poll

Is the former President's son a credible DeSantis alternative? One poll says yes.

Most polling of the still hypothetical 2024 Republican presidential Primary race shows Donald Trump atop the field, with Gov. Ron DeSantis running second and winning outright when the former President is excluded from the field.

The latest Morning Consult/POLITICO survey is consistent with both of those trends, yet it shows that if the former President does not run in 2024, his namesake son would be competitive even with DeSantis.

Former President Trump was the choice of 49% of the 390 registered Republican voters surveyed last week, with DeSantis the preference of just 14%. With Trump excluded, his son, Donald Trump Jr., was the choice of 24% of those surveyed, with DeSantis at 25%.

DeSantis has a pretty good record in elective office.

DeSantis is an experienced politician - how would a rookie do against him? Not very well, I suspect.

No. Donald Sr. was and is worth the ride. I don’t want a one-off.

Wouldn’t it be odd if Trump sr threw his weight behind DeSantis and Trump jr went after Florida Gov? Curiouser and curiouser.

I don’t think so. Don Jr. has never held office, or even run for office if I’m not mistaken. Going through a formal campaign is a learning experience. The candidate has no choice but to learn the system.

At this early point (and subject to change) I'm voting for DeSantis in the primary.

That said, I'll support, and eagerly vote for which ever GOPer wins the nom.

Could you point out what experience is needed in the constitution beside age and being an American?

I wouldn’t want someone as young and inexperienced as Trump Jr. Let him run for something else first, and prove his chops.

Simply being rich and famous because of one’s father doesn’t do it.

Don Jr is very impressive, older than Desantis and has vast business experience.

This is America. The constitution says as long as he is an American and of the right age, he has every right to run, and you have every right not to vote for him.

What's the problem? Is she your whore? If not, what do you care who Don JR dates?
