Google increases parental-leave policy to nearly 6 months and adds more vacation time for employees in a boost to well-being benefits

Google is boosting its benefits and offering employees more parental leave and vacation time.

Employees will now get a minimum of 20 days of vacation a year, up from 15.

It's also increasing parental leave to 18 weeks and upping caregiver leave to eight weeks.

Google is increasing parental leave and offering additional vacation time as part of an overhaul of its employee benefits.

The company announced on Thursday that it had expanded parental leave to 18 weeks for all parents (previously 12 weeks) and 24 weeks for parents who give birth (previously 18 weeks). As of April 2, it will also let employees take up to eight weeks of caregiver leave, doubling its previous allowance.

It is also increasing employees' paid vacation time to a minimum of 20 days a year, up from 15, starting April 2. A Google spokesperson said all the changes would apply to full-time employees globally.

..."More than 40% of our employees are in the 'sandwich generation,' where they might find themselves both bringing up their children and caring for aging family members," Fiona Cicconi, Google's chief people officer, wrote in an emailed statement on Thursday.

If an employee can be gone for 6 months, they are dispensible and not needed.

The recent amazon adds tout them offering 20 weeks of family leave. I wonder if that’s yearly or one time............ Hmmmm! There is a ‘distribution center’ just down the road from us.

Meanwhile their co-workers will have to pick up the slack.

Their annual performance review will not address the zero productivity during their absence.

That this 6 months absence applies to fathers is nonsense.

As the oldest of 9, I can’t imagine Dad taking off 4.5 years over a 15 year period.

Easy peasy.

Declare your pronoun to be “bitch”, and that you self identify as a female dog. Then the media will demand everyone pretend you are whatever you wish to be (like magic).

Hmmm...but, thaaattt may not get you any family leave...sorry.

Keep looking though, there surely is a way to achieve your goal.

These policies point suspiciously to Google having so few employees having children.

At the same time, I worked for a company that pretended to have generous maternity leave policy only to find out that they would find ways to oust those who took it.
