That was a really stupid settlement. Knowing how democRATs operate the “intimidation” was probably a fabricated accusation.

I assumed it was because Republicans were too passive and disinterested to get involved at the ground level

The most dedicated Republicans I know are excellent at getting enough coffee rings for the after meeting socials.

Democrats NEVER intimidate Republican voters. It's a fact.

Not sure where you live, poll workers are generally from the districts they work.... And while I have no doubt that inner city and urban districts poll workers are heavily democrat, just like their districts... so too are other districts more weighted republican.

If you want to be a poll worker then sign up, believe me, they nearly always need more.

My district is slightly more republican than democrat and our poll workers are fairly evenly split as well... but if you have more democrats than republicans in your district as poll workers, its likely because those are the folks who signed up....

Now, different states do things differently, my experience is in a suburb of a city in PA.

The typical poll workers party affiliation really doesn’t matter much... all the poll workers do is check in the person verify they are in the book and put them on the machine, and if not in the book check to see if its a mistake with county... and if someone is ADAMANT about voting even if they can’t be confirmed they are given a provisional ballot.

If you suspect hanky panky going on at your polling place, report its. I am not naive, I am sure there is hanky panky going on, but really the poll workers, aren’t your biggest problem with fraud and other issues.

If you want to work/volunteer at the polls then sign up and do it. It’s one day, twice a year generally at most. Its a long day, typical polling work day for me is 6am to 9pm.. Bigger districts may be longer.

“It turns out that, in 1982, the RNC entered into a consent decree that prohibited it from aggressively enlisting poll workers, and that consent decree only fully ended last year.”

Wait a minute. I thought that was a “conspiracy theory.”

Of course in this age of “enhanced” voting procedures, are poll workers nothing more than a quaint anachronism?

So, the Republicans have been mind-numbingly stupid and servile for at least 40 years.

What a mind numbingly stupid settlement. I’m surprised the GOP didn’t renew it in partial penance for January 6.

Typically defeatist attitude. R-Illinois, Bob Michel immediately popped to mind and sure enough, it was he in control then...backed up by ferocious fighter Trent Lott who needlessly ceded senate power a few years later because it was the generous thing to do.

the polls are no nearly as important now as the new mail in processing centers/counter. That’s why they say counting the votes is important. The mail in ballots now require huge processing centers to count and recount the votes adding votes as they go. So that in Delco PA there are 29K for mail in votes counted than there were mail in voters recorded in the SURE system. The poll watcher in Delco was refused entry to where they were collecting the boxes. ( all stated in one of the lawsuits with affidavits.) you have seen the videos of the guys talking about fixing the audit requests.. These were in chester, Delco, PA. And the republicans that gave the democrats this power didn’t require anything auditable.

Let’s not overlook the fact that the VAST majority of people whose live on the dole are demoncrats. When your only job is strolling out to the mailbox once a month to pick up your welfare check, that leaves plenty of free time to volunteer to be a poll worker without interfering with your work schedule.

“DNC sued its Republican counterpart for allegedly intimidating voters in predominantly Democrat areas of New Jersey”

What a joke. Republicans intimidating voters in New Jersey? We all know Dims show up at a fight with brass knuckles while Repukes show up with a plastic spatula.
