Significantly more children were diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) during the COVID-19 pandemic compared with previous years, a single-institution study suggested.
From March 2020 to March 2021, a total of 187 children were admitted for new onset T1D at a San Diego children's hospital, a 57% increase over the 119 children in the prior year, according to Jane Kim, MD, of the University of California San Diego, and colleagues.
And for part of this pandemic period (July 2020 to February 2021), they found significantly more new diagnoses than would be predicted based on averages from the previous 5 years. For example, it was expected there would be 10 new diagnoses in February 2021, but in reality there were 21, the group wrote in a JAMA Pediatrics research letter.
Not only were there more new cases of T1D than expected, but more children initially presented with diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) during the 1-year pandemic period as well (50% compared to an average of 41% over the prior 5 years).
"By measuring a 12-month interval after the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, our cross-sectional study accounted for seasonal variation in the onset of new T1D cases," Kim's group pointed out. They also noted that they included data on the 5 years prior in order to account for the expected annual increases in cases, which have been increasing globally each year.

More likely that people were scarfing their faces with sugary stuff to help ward off boredom.
“So... I don’t suppose vaccinations have ‘anything’ to do with this increase?”

Doubtful. The increase was noted before children were eligible for the COVID-19 vaccines.
Still, it’s not a good idea for healthy children to receive these vaccines as they have no problem dealing with COVID-19 exposure unassisted.
Children 12 and up were authorized to receive Pfizer in May.
Looking at the average age (9.6), I doubt they were eligible for the jab when they presented with their T1D.
The jabs have messed up adult diabetics - for some, after getting the jabs, blood glucose goes on wild swings & is harder to control for a couple of months.

May of 2021. The increase (whether real or just apparent) happened BEFORE THAT TIME.

Would being in proximity to VAXXED and SHEDDING adults count as "having anything to do with?"
I suspect that this jump in diabetes rates is due to either COVID, itself, or to the imposed countermeasures. It is most certainly not due to NOT being vaxxed.
Regards,
That’s type 2
I’m hearing that during the plandemic, because of face masks, children are having extremely high incidences of delayed speech. If most of your life you do not see the faces of your mom, family, friends, etc, and you are in life’s phase of learning to speak, you have a good chance of this...
You’re thinking of type 2.
Type 1 isn’t related to obesity or ethnicity- it’s an autoimmune disorder that starts in childhood. I read much earlier in pandemic that they saw increase in Type 1 diabetes diagnoses- could be consequence of having had Covid- still being researched. Initial increase seen NOT related to vaccination-young children weren’t vaccinated yet. HOWEVER does beg question- will vaccinating young children have same correlation?
Yep. There are those whose response to the lock down was to sit in their house and eat. And eat. Then they call the fire department to lift them off the floor at all hours of the day and night while proudly telling us how many months its been since they have been out of the house.

that’s the cause of Type II diabetes and it takes years of that kind of abuse to cause Type II diabetes ... Type I is caused by auto-immune disease that destroys the islets of langerhans in the pancreas ...
Yes, thank you for this distinction. Although type I typically starts in children, it can happen at at any age. My mother was diagnosed in her 50s with Type I diabetes. Her endocrinologist said it is not common but does happen.
Friend had severe case Covid fall 2020, and by Spring 2021, he was T1D.
Wrong type.
You’re thinking Type 2.
If this is true, the Type 1 news, holy merde...
The kids weren’t vaxxed, but one or more of their parents might have been...
As for increases in Type II, blame the lockdowns for that one.
A doc told me early on in this cluster that the lockdowns will kill more patients than CoupFlu.
It was the only honest thing on the subject the doc said.
Children...
What age are we talking here...
Virus related. So saying they did this to themselves when it's A) Kids and B) Virus related is spouting stupidity.
