In the Arizona desert, a new school model has Black parents driving across city lines to drop their children off each morning.
Frustrated with what they say is their public schools’ failure to provide quality education and nurturing environments for Black children and fearing the persistent school to prison pipeline, a group of mothers, many public school teachers, have created a network of their own schools.
Launched mid-pandemic just one year ago, the mothers’ goal is to grow the seven micoschools into 50.
“We could be advocating 24/7, and still not make the impact that we wanted to see. So, what do you do, do you go charter? Do you try to keep working in the public school system? Nope, nope, not us. We said, well, we can do it ourselves,” said Debora Colbert, executive director of the Black Mothers Forum, a Phoenix-based parent advocacy group.
In mixed-grade classes, students learn at their own pace and are guided by two teachers. Restorative discipline techniques, not punitive strategies, are the norm.

I wish them luck.
I hope they succeed.
It’s very simple. If you want to end the school to prison pipeline, start with a father.
Some Karen will sue to stop this in 3, 2, 1...
I don’t recall seeing the word father in that entire article, could have missed it.
If this is what it takes to break the cycle, I wish them well.
“I wish them luck.
I hope they succeed.”
Same here, it least they are being PROACTIVE while everyone else is sitting on their thumbs.
“I don’t recall seeing the word father in that entire article, could have missed it.”
Doesn’t even relate. Obsessive stereotyping.
They better watch out. If this shows signs of succeeding, this will be viewed as an existential threat to demonrats and they will act accordingly to sabotage it
So it will be a system of schools for ethnic kids only? I think it’s a great idea, but some people might lose their minds over it.
Going outside the established DOE system is of course a survival strategy for ALL parents - I applaud parents standing up to school boards lately, but what is in the best interest of children is to stop arguing and trying to change what has developed over decades of time into a titanic waste of money and a detriment to a stable society - and a detriment to the idea of learning itself - and walk away from it.
Homeschool your kids or do what these gals are doing. Kids are expensive to have and raise - and then you give them to so-called “teachers” so their minds can be destroyed and their lives ruined. Does that make sense?
Have they been branded white supremacists yet>

Reinventing the country school house?
This “sounds” like a great idea and I hope it turns out to be.
But, in my opinion, their only chance to succeed is to keep government money and it’s pernicious influence OUT.
The fact that some teachers are involved show that
not all teachers are worthless creatures; there are
those who have the children’s best interests at heart.
Praises to them! Debora has appeared with Steve on War
Room several times. The woman has spunk and a good deal
of energy. Two necessities in going up against the teachers
unions and deep state entities.
Debora, you rock!
On the scale of the individual to the collective, and decentralized versus centralized planning and governance, towards decentralizing is always the recommendation.

"Designing institutions to force (or nudge) entirely self-interested individuals to achieve better outcomes has been the major goal posited by policy analysts for governments to accomplish for much of the past half century. Extensive empirical research leads me to argue that instead, a core goal of public policy should be to facilitate the development of institutions that bring out the best in humans."
Will there be room for white kids. Given the choice it would prove racism is not really an issue unless they teach CRT.
They should just have daddy and me classes in the prisons.
