DEMOCRATS ARE RUSHING THROUGH A MASSIVE UKRAINE DEFENSE BILL
The Intercept ^ | 25-JAN-2022 | Sara Sirota

DEMOCRATS IN THE House of Representatives are planning to expedite a massive bill that would dramatically increase U.S. security assistance to Ukraine and lay the groundwork for substantial new sanctions on Russia — hastening a war-friendly posture without opportunity for dissent as concerns over a military invasion abound.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., told members on a caucus call Tuesday that she’s looking to skip marking up the bill and move it straight to the House floor, setting up the possibility of a vote as soon as early next week, two congressional sources told The Intercept. The sources spoke on the condition of anonymity because they’re not authorized to talk to the press. Pelosi’s office did not immediately reply to a request for comment.

I often think of Ukraine as a money laundering state....everybody there is on the take and it’s part of their culture...even on the street. Everything has a price if you want any influence at all. From police to the officials, etc.

During Midan uprising temporary positions that were installed were US appointed and managed. When the Gov. finally fell that night a plane left carrying the man who had control of the monies....he took to the US Billions of dollars... Into whose hands that went once here was never revealed that I’m aware of but the fact it did leave the country was confirmed.

Ukraine has been controlled basically by US influence ever since the fall of the government. As we know certain politicians invested and manipulated Ukraine officials along the way....and still do.

No doubt, but I think it must be more people involved than that. People with deep pockets, and wanting to make them deeper. The people who engineer color revolutions, like. Just what is in Ukraine that is so important? Is it geography? Is it cash flow (the nefarious kind)?

“The Russian people are strong. They’re used to suffering. It’s in their blood.”

They should prepare for much worse...after they invade Ukraine. Their Spain sized GDP, will get even smaller.

The Russian people deserve everything they get for allowing a dictator to rule over them and degrade their economy.

Democrats are ready to spend big money on Special Forces units to assist Ukraine - by parachuting in and destroying any servers with records of Democrat corruption before Putin’s forces seize them. :)

I’m not convinced they’re going to actually invade. They are doing a good job of making NATO run around in circles and destabilize Ukraine while Russia just sits on their own side of the border. Quite a feat for a country with an economy the size of Spain, as you said. A coup or civil war is what they are actually trying to start, but we’ll see if that fails.

LOL true, but NATO has been effective in making Putin go full 1939.

His entire Warsaw Bloc, has run full steam to the open arms of NATO. It’s Putin’s grandiose dreams of a powerful autocratic Russia, causing the fleeing of former allies.

He is single-handedly destroying Russia. The Russian people suffer due to Putin, but they are too subservient to demand change.

Those Warsaw countries would have run to NATO no matter who the leader of Russia is, based on their experiences of the past. But I’m sure they are glad they did, based on how Putin is acting now.

But in some respect, independent of Putin, I can see how Russians in general would be concerned about Ukraine joining NATO, and may therefore be giving their support to Putin over it now.

Let’s say the new axis of evil China, Russia, and Iran, were trying to add Mexico to their group, and China was sending all sorts of weapons and covert ops into Mexico, and possibly preparing to set up missile silos there facing the US. While a lot of us may detest Biden, who is ruining the US much like Putin is ruining the US, we’d still support Biden reacting in some way to the threat.

I personally don’t think we need or should even want Ukraine in NATO, and if we just said that, a lot of this would just go away, or it would at least pull a lot of the rug out from Putin’s supposed excuse for his actions. But since we won’t maybe that is what this is all about, and if it is, it may be the Russian people who are concerned about it, not just Putin.

"Tell Germany and France to handle it"

Both those countries have had great success with putting troops on Russian soil.

This is all posturing to try and reverse the green light Sleepy Joe gave Russia last week, when he said that a "minor incursion" would be no big deal. Handing a stolen election to someone with dementia has consequences.

Ukraine doesn’t meed requirements to get into NATO on several levels, but the could in the future. They want in and the Parliament amended the Constitution to express the desire to enter NATO in the future.

The US, NATO, EU will never state in writing that Ukraine won’t be accepted. That’s why the troops on the Ukraine border. It’s a bully type of statesmanship blackmail.

Putin will regret it. They aren’t talking about mere sanctions, they are talking about systemic denial to Western banking etc.

I see it as a major Putin blunder and miscalculation.

Right. And if Putin backs down, he looks weak vs. an obviously feeble US Pres. If he invades, the Russian people will suffer economically.

1939 tactics aren’t chess, not even checkers, more like kick the can.

It’s 1914, not 1938.

If you want to trigger a war like WW1, but with nukes, over Ukraine being able to join NATO, then you are a damned fool.

See map above, NB the actual geographical location of Ukraine.

Please go, YOURSELF, to Ukraine, and pick up a rifle. Otherwise, STFU, fool.

First of all, you go F yourself. I picked up a rifle a long time ago in the 82nd ABN.

Secondly, your weak straw man argument is small. The US is not sending any US military to fight in Ukraine. But, it is Ukraine trying to start a war. The economic punishment they receive will be MOAB on a economic scale.

Likely, Putin backs down. If he has any brains at all.

You go eff yourself, and the horse you rode in on. I was a Navy SEAL, what the eff is a guy who jumps out of airplanes a few times a year? Who gives an eff about that?

You want to start WW3 over the “right” of Ukraine to join NATO, you are a damned and damnable fool.

For Russia, this is worse than the Cuban Missile Crisis. This is China putting missiles into Quebec and northern Mexico.

You are a DAMNED FOOL to start a WW, with nukes over the “right” of Ukraine to join NATO.

Because to Russia, Ukraine in NATO is a knife pushed to their throat, and they will go to war to prevent that.

I repeat myself, but if you can’t see this, you are a DAMNED FOOL.
